Octopus 8 newsroom computer system

MultiDyne will exhibit its new
SilverBack 4K6 fibre-optic link for
4K quad-link 3G camcorders. This
enables users to convert any quad-link
4K camcorder into a 4K live camera,
connected to a base station via a single
fibre cable.
Newtec's IP Series is claimed to be
the first production system designed
specifically for IP video. It comprises
the VMC1 processor capable of
switching up to 64 source channels,
including 44 external inputs (each with
key and fill) and full mixing control
with 8 M/Es with full re-entry. Each
VMC1 can perform compositing, macro
automation, matting, DVE, transitions
and overlays as well as creating virtual
sets. Multiple VMC1 processors can be
networked.
NTP Technology, exhibiting with
US reseller Plus24, will demonstrate
its DX32R audio processor which
provides conversion between Dante/
AES67 and AES as well as MADI. It
includes a coaxial MADI interface and
eight AES3 interfaces. The DX32R can
be expanded with a further two MADI
interfaces, either optical or coaxial. A
built-in router allows the operator to
select any channels from any interface
for routing to Dante/AES67 and vice
versa.
Octopus Newsroom will show
the latest version of its Octopus 8

newsroom computer system. Recent
additions include the Octopus Mobile
app which offers journalists full news
production capabilities on tablets
and mobile phones running Apple
iOS or Google Android. Reporters and
editors working remotely gain instant
access to all wires, rundowns and
assignments. They can also edit stories
within a rundown, preview prompter
text as well as create wires and reports
in the field.
OMG will introduce three additions
to its Cubix media asset management,
automation
and
orchestration
platform: Cubix Biometrics integrates
the SmilePass Biometrics platform
for face and voice authentication.
Cubix Cognitive Services provides
cognitive services including speech to
text transcription, subtitle validation,
language detection, image recognition
and real-time content moderation.
Cubix Timelines allows operators
to access and interact quickly with
metadata, audio tracks, automated
quality-control reports and editdecision lists.
PlayBox
Technology
will
demonstrate new features for its
CloudAir universal playout and
streaming platform. These include
a transcoder capable of handling
multiple file containers and formats
plus an enhanced graphics editor
template

improved playlist editing, advanced

enhancements to its Neo
server-based product range

playlist export to EPGs and automated
linking of stored assets. Also being
exhibited will be enhancements to
the Neo server-based product range
include extended control features,
expanded file handling capabilities,
greater input/output connectivity and
Microsoft Windows 10 compatibility.
SAM will show a low-cost packaged
production package including a
1-3M/E switcher, routers, processors,
multiviewers and infrastructure. The
combination is intended for production
environments such as live sports,
outside broadcasting and education.
Also on display will be the MV-805-9 IP
based multiviewer. This allows up to 12
IP signals to be sent to a local output
and simultaneously to an IP multiview
feed.

StarliteRF plus a TitanHD2 Tx-a
that connects to cameras via an
included cable. The monitor receives
the camera picture wirelessly. Key
camera functions can be controlled
wirelessly by return to the camera.
The camera functions are accessed via
the monitor's touch screen. Clips can
be recorded and played via the inbuilt
recorder which can be set up to start
automatically.
Vitec Video will demonstrate its
MGW Vision UHD IPTV contribution
encoder. Operating in 10 bit 4:2:2, it
can handle one channel of 4K or four
channels of HD. Paired with an MGW
decoder, it allows 4K60p 4:2:2 10 bit
point-to-point streaming.

Sony boosts SD card speeds

Sony is increasing its SD card lineup
with the new SF-G Series which has
a claimed write speed of up to 299
megabytes per second. 32, 64 and 128
gigabyte versions will be available.
Intended for use with DLSR cameras
shooting 4K video, the cards can be
interfaced via the new MRW-S1 reader
to a PC with a USB3.1 Gen1 Interface.
Transvideo will show the
new StarliteRF, a wireless
monitor-recorder
that
can remotely control key
functions of the Arri Alexa
Mini and Amira cameras.
