Looking Ahead To IBC2016

Telestream will introduce Lightspeed Live Capture
to the European market

Telestream is using IBC to focus
on live streaming. It will introduce
Lightspeed Live Capture to the
European market, an integrated
hardware and software appliance
which provides real-time encoding of
HD/UHD while streaming proxies. A
new Adaptive Bitrate feature for its
flagship software encoder Vantage
is said to allow users to "significantly
reduce" delivery bandwidth needs, and
"slash content distribution network
costs by up to 40 per cent" within
multiscreen distribution applications.

showcase
Vantage
Open
Workflows which supports OTT
services in multi-screen media
distribution. Telestream Cloud,
a video encoding SaaS, will be
demonstrated.

how
media
companies
can "make the resolution
journey without squandering
precious capital on technology
obsolescence."
CTO Jan Weigner asserts: "While
8K may be still a moonshot for many,
demonstrating just how easy it can be
helps underscore our future-proofing
message. There is an affordable
answer today that costs the same for
SD, HD, 4K, and, if you wish, 8K. In
an IP, software-defined, GPU-centric
environment, the upper limit of what
you can usefully process in real time
is difficult to define. We think our 8K
demo will be impressive enough for
IBC 2016. As for 2017 and beyond?

The basis of Cinegy's 8K IBC demo
is the company's Daniel2 GPU video
codec which can decode up to 1,100
frames per second in 8K from a sub€1,000 PC.

to transcode and deliver

Lattus without restoring

StreamMaster
earlier this year, Pixel Power will
focus on the product at IBC and demo
it with Amazon Web Services. The
demonstrations will cover simple
channel playout where the schedule
is fixed and there are no live events,
through dynamic playout with live
events, right up to complex premium
channels including reactive scheduling,
for instance around sports events
whose end time is not known.
