or favourite directly from Octopus
as well as manage the channel's
relationships by following or blocking
Twitter users. Octopus 8 directly
interconnects with CMS systems
such as Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal
and Core Media, allowing scripts and
articles to be uploaded dynamically
to web portals. This new web
component enables TV news editors
to upload pages directly, saving time
and reducing the workload on web
managers. Another new feature is the
ability to publish social media posts
directly from the rundown. The new
Octopus Mobile App offers journalists
news production capabilities on tablets
and mobile phones running Apple iOS
or Google Android. Reporters and
editors working remotely gain instant
access to all wires, rundowns and
assignments. They can also edit stories
within a rundown, preview prompter
text as well as create wires and reports
in the field. The new app supports
both Octopus 8 and the most recent
versions of Octopus 7.
PlayBox Technology Limited has
announced a major extension to the
capabilities of its ProductionAirBox
Neo multichannel playout server.
Central to this development is the
integration of support for the NewTek
Network Device Interface (NDI) open
protocol for IP production workflow.
NDI allows multiple video systems
to identify and communicate with
one another over IP, and to encode,
transmit and receive many streams
of high quality, low latency, frameaccurate video and audio in real-time.
This new protocol can benefit any NDI
compatible video device, including

Neo and CloudAir

video mixers, graphics systems,
capture cards, and many other
production devices. Integrating the
NDI protocol enables ProductionAirBox
Neo to send up to four channels
of low latency, high quality video
and up to 16 channels audio to
NewTek's TriCaster or any other NDI
compatible device. ProductionAirBox
Neo can be controlled also via VDCP
and soon via Media Object Server
(MOS) protocols. Changes to the
playlist can be made even while
on-air. Every clip in the playlist can
be trimmed or repositioned on-thefly using commands such as next,
jump or shuttle. All changes are
performed
without
interrupting
the current playout session. Up to
four independent players can be
accommodated on a single server.
Each channel has separate playlist plus
playout control.
ProductionAirBox Neo also includes
forward or reverse shuttle at up
to 32x speed, mixing of different
video resolutions and formats in
a single playlist, logical content
trimming, multi-channel audio output,
plus support for a wide variety of
compression standards and media
containers.
SGL's FlashNet Infinity is designed
to simplify archive procedures. New
toolset features include archive and
restore, system health monitoring
and analysis. These are available as a
free upgrade to all SGL FlashNet users
covered by a current support contract.
Snell Advanced Media has formed
a Media Software Solutions division.
This will combine the company's news
and sports production systems, media
management, workflow orchestration,
and playout offerings including social
media publishing products working
natively in non-broadcast formats.

SintecMedia's OnBoard platform is
now fully integrated with HighYield, a
programmatic tech ad platform from
Visible World. The combination of
SintecMedia's OnBoard with Visible
World's HighYield will easily enable
OnBoard clients to provide their TV ad
inventory to Programmatic TV selling
via users of the HighYield platform.
Tedial's Version Factory supports
millions of file input to output
configurations and can be managed
from a single operator screen.
Designed to interface to content
management, rights management
and traffic work order for automated
operation, Version Factory employs
SMPTE standardised designs for OTT/
VOD platforms, network operations
and media companies focused on
managing their brand across all
distribution formats. Also available
from Tedial, Evolution BPM is
claimed to be able to process 50,000
workflows in under three minutes on
an average sized platform.
Vidcheck has expanded the
capabilities of its Vidchecker and
Vidchecker-post automated quality
control software with the addition
of new features for checking
Interoperable Master Format (IMF)
metadata and essence. IMF can
accommodate a much larger amount
of metadata than earlier-generation
MXF files. A single IMF package can
contain all the necessary video,
audio, graphics, closed captions
and metadata elements needed for
worldwide re-versioning. It greatly
reduces the workload required to

produce
multiple
self-contained
master programme files. For example,
delivering a video-plus-overdubbedaudio file for a large number of
language regions creates a huge
amount of point to point data traffic.
An IMF package can do this with
much greater efficiency by carrying
a single relatively large video file
plus audio tracks for each required
language. Related elements such as
titles and credits for various regions
and be handled in a similar way to
reduce unnecessary repetition of
data delivery. All can be stored in
the IMF files as separate assets and
combined when required. Vidchecker
and Vidchecker-post check all this data
and draw attention to any potential
operational issues. Any problems
detected in programme essence or
the metadata container are clearly
displayed on the user interface.
Developed around the SMPTE ST
2067-2 standard, IMF has already
progressed to Application 2e (SMPTE
ST 2067-21) which supports images
up to 4K frame resolution plus high
dynamic range. Application 2e is
already being used by Netflix as an OTT
service delivery format.
Vimsoft's
