appointed to supply Dagbreek's
news, which is being produced
using version 7 of AP ENPS's
newsroom system.
"The reaction to our news offering
has been overwhelming and our
viewers want us to increase the
bulletin," says News Editor Jako
Krige. "The system will help us
create a stronger and fuller news
bulletin and allow for better planning
and more effective communication
between the team at every level."
In the UK the TV landscape is
changing again with the rollout
of local channels. Among these
is Mustard TV, based in Norwich.

computer system from a relative
newcomer to the newsroom market,
aQ Broadcast. The installation
includes a database server, which
is used by journalists, and an aVS
video server.

pictures to a much wider audience
through new media as well as
conventional TV channels. But it
has also been blamed for a news
overload, with rolling news services
cutting to reporters in the ﬁeld even
when nothing is happening. There
has also been the criticism that
the sheer speed of turnaround has
trivialised the news and in some
cases led to mistakes.
