in Bangladesh, has deployed
AVIWEST's DMNG PRO180 and

uplink solutions to improve the
delivery of live video transmissions
for breaking news coverage.

day from multiple locations around
Bangladesh and across the world.

Lawo And VSM Team For Asian Games

ith a spectacular opening
ceremony in Incheon, South
Korea, the Asian Games ofﬁcially
opened its doors to 10,000 athletes
from 45 nations.
Second only in scale to the
Olympics in the world of sport, the
competition already has a winner
in the competition for audio and

IP-networking - German audio and
video specialist Lawo.
Approximately 110 IP-based Lawo
Commentary Control Units (LCU)
guaranteed smooth broadcasting
of the commentators' audio.
In addition, ten Lawo mc2
consoles were used to handle the
sound mix - eight mc256 consoles in

the different venues, a further mc256
in the International Broadcast Center
(IBC), and a Lawo mc266.
In order to ensure everything runs
smoothly, a team of international
Lawo support technicians was
present on the games site.
Router links between the venues,
and monitoring and scheduling
of the 45 distribution channels
was controlled via Virtual Studio
Management (VSM) from German
company L-S-B.
Fifty hardware panels and
ten software GUIs ensured that
all signals reach their desired
destinations.
Two more central software
GUIs displayed the transmission
schedule and status monitoring
on the main monitor wall in the
CDT (Contribution-DistributionTransmission) centre. In all, the Asian
Games used eight VSM systems
in Korean OB vans, the IBC and a
backup OB van.

Scripps Networks
Selects Globecast
SIN: Globecast has been selected
by Scripps Networks Interactive
to provide distribution, playout,
content preparation and select
post-production services for
the company's portfolio of
networks across Asia-Pacific.
Scripps Networks owns and
operates four channels across
the region including Asian Food
Channel, Food Network, Travel
Channel and HGTV, which will
launch at the end of the year.
The channels will have access
to content preparation and
playout services using Globecast's
Media Factory.

AOL On Adds
Content Partners
GBR: AOL UK has announced 14
new partnerships for its premium
video syndication platform AOL
On with a series of new content
producers adding their web
content and short form content.
The partners announced include
British Pathe; Epic TV; and Atomized.
Sky News has also come on board
as both a content and publishing
partner, giving consumers in North
America access to its programming.
