IBC2014 - Going Dutch Again

this year's exhibition...

mong the features from
Blackmagic Design will be the
Cintel ﬁlm scanner with Thunderbolt
2 for real-time scanning of 35mm
and 16mm negative and positive
film up to 30fps in Ultra HD
resolution.

Also highlighted will be ATEM
2 M/E Production Studio 4K, a
powerful 2 M/E based Ultra HD live
production switcher with 20 6G-SDI
inputs and SuperSource layering
engine. SuperSource allows for
multi camera interviews or picture
in picture production while leaving
all M/Es, keyers and DVE free
for other tasks.
Cinegy is showing practical
production solutions for 4K based
on video over IP using ordinary
Gigabit Ethernet. The live camera
signals are converted using Cinegy
Gateway from HDMI or 4x 3G SDI to
IP and then transmitted via LAN to
Cinegy Live, the 4K purely softwarebased vision mixer.
The 4K IP signals can, at the
same time, be recorded by Cinegy
Capture to formats such as XAVC
and multiple lower-res proxy formats
and various H.264 web formats - all
in real-time. Cinegy says that 4K
production completely in software,
using IP end-to-end (apart from
the camera for now), is reality and
the only flexible and affordable
way to do it.
Andy Liebman, Founder and
CEO of EditShare says production
professionals working with 4K need
its new 40-Gigabit Ethernet solution:

is controlled by use of a ReSTful

popular MAM Systems.
IP Technology displays from
Ericsson will demonstrate live
content acquisition, exchange and
distribution in high bitrate, high
quality contribution formats over
IP, the latest video compression
for delivery to the consumer, its
Media Delivery Network solution,
LTE Broadcast - enabling
broadcasting of video within the
latest cellular networks, Managed
Media Player and Ericsson's latest
TV Anywhere platforms.
Visitors will also see a
demonstration of live 'true 4K'
distribution, processing and delivery
at high frame rates. Ericsson
believes the true potential in 4K
as a consumer proposition exists
within premium sports material and
that 60fps, 10-bit and 4:2:2 proﬁles
should be adopted.
Imagine Communications
showcase its MultiService SDN,
a software-defined networking
framework that creates a fully
virtualised network fabric for
deploying advanced services. The
framework simpliﬁes the network
architecture of media companies
operating in hybrid environments
of both baseband and IP workﬂows
by enabling the video bit ﬂow to be
software-mapped.

innovation," says CEO Charlie
Vogt. "Our unique, hybrid approach
changes the bit ﬂow while enhancing
the workflow."
Imagineer Systems will feature
its latest release of ﬂagship visual
effects solution, mocha Pro 4.0, that
offers groundbreaking native Stereo
3D (S3D) workflow capabilities
and advanced support for Python
scripting. States Ross Shain, Chief
Marketing Ofﬁcer, "With version
4, we are streamlining many of
the complex corrective tasks that
come with large S3D projects
and expanding the compatibility
of mocha Pro with visual effects
applications such as Nuke, Ocula
and Adobe After Effects."
Lawo will demonstrate a fully
working IP-based stagebox solution
system based on its V__link4 videoover-IP interfaces which can operate
in local stagebox applications, for
example OB trucks, as well as IPbased remote productions. The
concept behind the IP-based hubs
is to move the CCUs from the truck
into the stageboxes. These hubs
are connected via IP to the truck,
providing a "one-cable-into-thestadium" approach. Video, audio,
communications and camera
control data are transported via IP,
which signiﬁcantly reduces cabling
and increases the ﬂexibility of any
installation by real IP networking.
LiveU will present its complete
range of bonded 3G/4G uplink
solutions including the ProfessionalGrade LU500. Weighing only 1 kg
(2.2 lbs) and available in backpack
and camera-mount conﬁgurations,

this is based on fourth-generation
patented bonding algorithms
and powered by a new multiprocessor video encoding engine.
Also showcased will be the LiveU
DataBridge, a mobile hotspot that
offers resilient mobile broadband
connectivity for any device in any
location, by bonding multiple cellular
and other data connections.
Orad is lining up sports, live
productions, MCR, studio, MAM
and video server solutions. The
PlayMaker sports replay server
provides up to eight I/O channels
of ingest in multiple video formats,
with synchronised slow motion
replay and editing tools. Orad's
Master Control Room solutions
include everything from channelin-a-box to branding graphics with
3DPlay. ProSet, Orad's high-end
virtual studio solution can utilise
any of Orad's tracking solutions,
including its Xync infrared system
with 360-degrees of free camera
movement. PowerWall is based
on Orad's HDVG4 platform and
provides up to 16K resolution output
from a single box.
Pixel Power says it is set to
transform social media integration
with the launch of Buzz. This is a
software accessory for its range
of graphics-based playout devices
which makes it simple to scan,
moderate and broadcast social
media interactions. Multiple social
media feeds are consolidated, and
because Buzz is integrated within a
Pixel Power graphics device, users
