Sony Launches XDCAM
PXW-X160 Camcorder
S

ony has launched the
PXW-X160, the latest addition
to the Sony XDCAM Series of
professional camcorders.
The PXW-X160 features three
1/3" Full HD Exmor CMOS sensors
and a newly developed 25x optical
zoom G-Lens that extends from a
26mm wide angle. It can record
in XAVC Intra and Long GOP,
enabling 10-bit sampling for highdefinition recordings with rich
tonal expression, as well as MPEG
HD422 at 50 Mbps, a format widely
preferred by today's broadcasters
and production houses. It can also
record in MPEG HD420 at 35 Mbps,
AVCHD and DV formats.
The camcorder has been created
to satisfy the needs of broadcasters
with features that are ideally
suited for news, documentaries,
events, and more.

The PXW-X160 is a follow-up
to the currently popular Sony
HXR-NX5E and PMW-150,
and is expected to become a
strong performer in the field.
The PXW-X160 differs from the

previously announced PXW-X180
in the omission of features such
as wireless functionality, NFC, and
GPS, effectively lowering the price
point while maintaining the same
high level of performance.

Extra Launched

Press has launched AP Middle
East Extra, a new service
offering more unique video

The service includes reports,
interviews and perspectives on
international news for Middle East
audiences and, alongside AP's
existing global video news service,
adds depth to its extensive coverage
of the region.

BBC S&PP Extends
Elstree Partnership
GBR: BBC Studios and Post
Production is continuing
its partnership with Elstree
Studios until spring 2017.
The BBC commercial subsidiary
currently hires Stage 8, Stage 9
and George Lucas production
gallery space from Elstree Studios,
as well as operating studios
across the road at BBC Elstree.
The initiative was launched as
a result of the redevelopment and
upgrade of the Television Centre
site, where BBC Studios and Post
Production will be returning to
operate Studios 1-3.

Globecast Services
Indonesia Channel
SIN: The Indonesia Channel has
signed a deal with Globecast to
launch its 24-hour, English language
channel on multiple platforms.
From the digital media facility
at Mediapolis in Singapore,
Globecast is providing its playout
and media management services
for The Indonesia Channel,
localising its content.
