Grass Valley Future-Ready At
BroadcastAsia

rass Valley has showcased
the future of live production
at BroadcastAsia with the LDX
WorldCam advanced imaging
camera coupled with the
Copperhead transmission.
Also on display was the new LDX
XtremeSpeed (LDX XS) 1X/3X/6X
ultra slow-motion camera combined
with the K2 Dyno Replay System.
The LDX WorldCam is suited
for any production, under any
conditions and offers switchable
formats including 1080p50/59.94
for unrivalled image quality without
substantial investments in additional
lighting. The Copperhead 3404K
takes the image quality straight
from the camera to a truck or
control room with only two strands
of ﬁbre optic cable, which carry all
bi-directional signals - including four
3 Gb/s HD/SDI paths - eliminating
the logistical challenges posed by
coax cabling.

Grass Valley's LDX
XtremeSpeed (LDX XS)

Grass Valley's new LDX XS is the
ﬁrst handheld ultra slow-motion
camera and the first to deliver
instant time-to-air with no internal
camera storage requirements.
It easily integrates into live
workﬂows with 3X (1080p) and 6X
speeds (720p/1080i), and includes
a 1X live output for standardspeed acquisition. Both the LDX
WorldCam and LDX XS cameras
are built around Grass Valley's

unique proprietary Xensium-FT
CMOS imager, delivering superb
picture quality, high sensitivity and
high dynamic range for a variety of
production applications.
The added advantage of Grass
Valley's LDX XS camera system is
that it operates in concert with the
K2 Dyno Replay System, which
consists of the K2 Dyno S Replay
Controller and K2 Summit 3G
Production Client.

SGL Highlights LTFS Workflow Developments

(SGL) highlighted the latest
developments in archive workﬂows
and its continued support for LTFS
throughout BroadcastAsia.
Using LTFS, broadcasters and
content owners now have true
interoperability between what were
once disparate systems.
Material can be acquired directly to
disk and then dragged and dropped
to data tape and transported back
to the facility, removing the need to
re-ingest content to the archive and
enabling large amounts of data to
be transported and archived on a
single LTO tape.
This puts the archive much

further forward in the production
process, placing it alongside the
ingest element of the chain. This
workﬂow was demonstrated on the
booth throughout the show.
SGL also highlighted its FlashNet
content management solution
designed to integrate seamlessly
with NRCS, MAM or automation

control systems to provide
significant improvements to
workﬂow efﬁciency without intruding
on a user's familiar desktop.
Whether customers are looking
for a single site archive system,
main and backup operation or a
hub and spoke configuration,
FlashNet can accommodate their
requirements with ease.
SGL also showcased FlashWeb, a
further enhancement to FlashNet's
capabilities, which allows
broadcasters and content owners
to easily archive material in the
absence of a controlling MAM or
automation system.

SIN: IMT demonstrated its complete
family of RF Central microLite
Links at BroadcastAsia 2014.
Comprising the RF Central
microLite HD camera-top transmitter
and two RF Central microLite HD
camera-back transmitters, including
the Gold Mount and V-Mount, the
family of HD links offers a range of
docking options for compatibility.
Users can mount the RF Central
microLite HD camera-top transmitter
via a hot shoe, as well as pair it
with Litepanels camera-mounted
lighting solutions.

For Huawei
SIN: Huawei, a global information
and communications technology
(ICT) solutions provider, was
named Vendor of the Year by
Asia Communications Awards
for four consecutive years.

Cloud Strategy
SIN: At BroadcastAsia 2014,
Michelle Munson, Aspera cofounder and CEO, shared her
expertise in cloud-based workflows.
Munson's presentation examined
how the strategic success of UEFA's
hybrid cloud approach for Euro 2012
- based on an ingest, processing and
distibution pipeline - inspired new
content distribution methods for the
2014 FIFA World Cup.
