Systems integrations and centralcasting remain key focal points for driving facility optimisation
and profit margins across the entire broadcast distribution chain...

edia consumption continues
to evolve at an unprecedented
pace and so is the technology
up-and-down the entire
distribution chain.
Add in new multi-platform revenue
streams as a part of this evolution
and it's not hard to understand how
distribution workﬂows can become
labour intensive unless proactively
managed. Media distributors, for
the most part, have embraced the
evolution and welcomed the new
revenue streams. Who wouldn't?
However, the question remains,
"are media facilities optimising their
profit margin?"
What do we mean? Proﬁt/Loss is
the result of revenue minus expenses.
A media facility can generate in $100
million dollars in revenue, which is
an impressive number. However, if
their operating expenses are $101
million - well then, they are simply
not being profitable.
The mission of nearly all
organisations is to make a proﬁt -
which means generating revenue
above and beyond operating
expenses. However, given the
totality of expense associated with
producing, acquiring, managing,
distributing and archiving content,
there is something to be said for
boosting proﬁtability by reducing
costs as opposed to focusing
exclusively on adding more revenue.

to capitalise on consolidated and
centralised workﬂows. This in itself
