New Lens Intro's From Schneider Optics

eading lens and filter maker,
Schneider Optics made several
product introductions at the NAB
convention 2014 in Las Vegas.
Schneider added 18mm, 25mm
and 100mm lenses to its popular
Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon FFPrime family that already includes
the 35mm, 50mm and 75mm focal
lengths. They are purpose built for
digital cinematography with cameras
including RED Dragon, Canon C100/
C300/C500, Arri Alexa, Sony F5/F55
and HDSLR cameras, and cover the
full 45mm image circle usable on
Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D800
cameras. These compact lenses
are designed for 4K and beyond
resolution (4096 x 2304 pixels).
The display also featured the Cine
Xenar III colour-matched PL mount
digital cinematography prime lens
family, with the newest 14mm T2.2
wide-angle addition.
In keeping with the company's
reputation to do more with existing
optics, NAB saw the premier of
the new Schneider Optics Wide
Angle adapter for the Fujinon

19-90mm Cabrio
lens. With an easy
on/off design, this
non-zoom through
adapter expands
the lens by 30%.
For those everpresent mobile
devices, Schneider
expands its offerings
for the iPro Lens line.
The new Clip lets Apple
iPad, iPad Mini, Mini
Retina and iPad Air
accept iPro lenses. The
Clip precisely positions iPro lenses
over the devices built-in camera lens
and the twist lock mount provides
quick lens changes between the
Macro, Super Wide, Wide Angle,
2X Tele and Fisheye lenses allowing
users to get more in every shot. iPro
lenses are also available for iPhone
5S, 5, 4S, 4 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
As exclusive distributor for
Chrosziel products in the United
States, Schneider is exhibiting
two professional wireless control
systems. Successfully used at the

The new Chrosziel MagNum
wireless systems offer lightweight

digital and cine cinematography.

hotoku Broadcast Systems have
been active in the broadcast
industry for over 50 years. The
company's ﬁeld of expertise include
Robotic camera control systems,
encoded camera supports for
Virtual Studio applications and
Manual camera support.
Building on the Japanese parent
company's strong domestic
market for manual camera
supports in Japan and
Asia, recent years have
seen increased focus on
growth into Europe and the rest
of the world.
While industry trends
globally such as lighter cameras
packages naturally influence
product development, speciﬁc
factors in western markets
have seen the company focus
a number of their new product
developments with
this part of the world
ﬁrmly in mind.
Shotoku's most
recent
studio
pedestal the TP-200,
is a 2-stage pneumatic unit

designed and built with ﬂexibility
in mind. The units' maximum 80kg
payload makes it a capable piece
of studio equipment while the new
lightweight design affords effortless
handling and on shot performance.
As part of the design process
Shotoku consulted with operators
which led to the inclusion of some
subtle but useful features.
The central column
incorporates not just a
locking mechanism, but
an adjustable drag too.
The footbrake has been located in
an easy to reach location while
being countersunk, to avoid
accidental application and it's
clear from the quality of the build,
the company has drawn on heavily
on its manufacturing capabilities.

sleek ergonomic
design sees
all the head
controls
located

camera operator and Shotoku's
'Perfect balance' Centre of Gravity
adjustment provides good ﬂexibility
and excellent control. Capable of
up to 40kg the SX300 is also well
suited to a mid-size teleprompter
for studio work which gives it an
edge over other heads in this class.
Shotoku UK has recently added
customers in the UK and Eastern
Europe to the list of clients using
the TP-200 and SX300
The SX300 is available as either
a four bolt ﬂat mount (Convertible
to M70), or as a 150mm ball
mount, further increasing the
ﬂexibility of the unit. In 150mm
ball conﬁguration, the SX300 is
usually paired with Shotoku's new
TTH1502C, a two-stage, carbon

ﬁbre 150mm bowl tripod.
The TTH1502C can carry up to
90kg, extend to over 1600mm
but has a transport length of just
751mm. As expected, transport
cases, a selection of spreader
options and studio dolly accessories
are all available and the product
received a lot of attention at the
recent NAB show in the US.
For studios requiring remote
camera control Shotoku recently
launched a track-based camera
system, SmartTrack, supporting ﬂoor
or ceiling mounted conﬁgurations,
with elevation, as well as smooth,
dynamic dolly movements.
