TV5Monde Asia Signs Globecast
T

V5Monde Asia has signed a
deal with Globecast to launch
T V5Monde Asia HD via the
MEASAT-3 satellite to reach homes
across the Asia-Paciﬁc region.
TV5Monde Asia HD is a simulcast
of the SD variant, which was also
delivered via Globecast's capacity
on the MEASAT-3 satellite.

Globecast's Hong Kong teleport will
handle the uplink

Globecast is providing signal
delivery from TV5Monde in Paris.
The channel feed is fibred to
Globecast's Hong Kong teleport for
uplink onto Globecast's multiplex
on MEASAT-3 DVB-S2 platform.

Net Insight Signs Up The Switch For Upgrade

than SEK 40 million with The Switch.
The expansion and the upgrade
will offer video and data services
to national sports leagues across

Irish Duo Select Fujinon Lenses

ujiﬁlm has been selected by Irish
companies, Television Mobiles
(TVM) and IRIS, to supply Fujinon
HD Broadcast lenses.
TVM and its sister company
IRIS deploy the latest production
technologies and experienced
operators in order to guarantee
production results of the highest
achievable quality.
TVM and IRIS recently acquired
several Fujinon HD Box lens
models XA99x8.4 with a focal
range of 8.4-1664mm, XA77x9.5
with 9.5-1464mm and the XA55x9.5
with 9.5-1050.
These HD Box lenses are
combined with HD ENG HA42x9.7
and HA23x7.6 lenses which will be
deployed on prominent Irish horse
racing tracks for the National Hunt

& Flat races.
These premium
HD EFP lenses are
all fully loaded with
on board OS-Tech
optical stabilisation,
including 16-bit
encoder and serial
communication, they
are extremely compact
in size and mass for the
given lens category.

To MPEG-4
FRA: New Delhi Television (NDTV)
has migrated its satellite uplink
infrastructure from MPEG-2 to
a complete MPEG-4 multiplechannel-per-carrier (MCPC).
The chain is based on Thomson
Video Networks' advanced encoding,
MPEG processing, and transport
stream (TS) monitoring equipment.
Driven by the ViBE EM4000 HD/
SD encoder, NetProcessor 9030
MPEG processor, XMS network
management system, and Granite
Sentinel DTV monitor, the MCPC
chain replaces aging SD MPEG-2
equipment and provides an HDready platform.

ITV News Opts
For Sony HD
GBR: ITV has announced a deal
with Sony as the commercial
broadcaster moves its regional
newsgathering operations to HD.
ITV has invested in over 190 Sony
PMW-4001 and PMW-2002 cameras
for its teams as well as accompanying
field production equipment.
The systems will be used across all
of ITV News' regional newsgathering
operations, allowing for workﬂow
continuity and a seamless transition
from acquisition through short-term
storage and data transfer.

Graphics
NOR: Vizrt has announced a
package integrating its IP-based
graphics production tool with
NewTek's TriCaster multi-camera
live video production systems.
Vizrt say that the package will
provide easier control of live
video and graphics content in
the control room, OB truck or
stadium for use on-air or online.
At NAB, both Vizrt and NewTek
demonstrated the package as part
of studio production integration
systems in the "What's Next' Lounge.
