Ross Powers beIN Sports
A

l Jazeera's sports network has
rebranded as beIN Sports and
extended its reach.
With its headquarters in Doha,
Qatar, the beIN Sports complex is
made up of nine separate studios
that feature the very latest products
from Ross Video.
Muhammad Saeed, Head of
the Engineering Section at beIN
Sports, said: "We have never been
busier. There has always been a
huge appetite for sport in the Middle
East and we are now broadcasting
everything from English Premier
League football to World Superbikes,
international Rugby, European
Handball and all the major global
sporting tournaments.
"As a result, our studios have
virtually no down time and we
have carefully chosen to partner
with manufacturers who we know
offer a great blend of performance
and reliability."

cameras that was supplied and
installed by regional systems
integration specialist Tek Signals.
One of the most popular
programmes broadcast from Studio
9 is beIN's coverage of English
Premier League football. The live
shows feature multiple anchors

and guests situated on various
sets around the studio, making for
a complex rundown.
Saeed said that Ross' Furio
robotics system had allowed
directors and operators to create
a variety of dynamic panning
shots that help keep the show
engaging and vibrant.

Hitachi Introduces Z-HD6000 Camera At CABSAT

t CABSAT, Hitachi Kokusai
Electric Turkey presented the
ﬁrst Middle Eastern showcase of
its new Z-HD6000 portable HDTV
studio and EFP camera.
Introduced last September, this
strategic addition is

in the company's affordable Z Series
product line.
This portable and dockable studio
and EFP camera incorporates three
2/3-inch MOS 2.6 megapixel sensors
with output signal format ﬂexibility
between 1080i/59.94i and 1080/50i
with 1100TV lines resolution.
"The introduction of the Z-HD6000
represents a signiﬁcant milestone in
Hitachi's strategic roadmap for our
broadcast camera business
since this device combines
totally uncompromised
quality with the market's
most aggressive pricing

The two-piece dockable camera
offers versatility and flexibility
in a range of applications from
studio to ﬁeld-based and mobile
video production.
The camera's new 1080i MOS
sensors enable F13@2000 lx
(1080/50i) and HD Signal to Noise
(SNR) levels of 60dB.
The camera docks to optical ﬁbre,
triax or RF wireless adaptor.

MPT Incorporates
144TB TerraBlock
USA: Maryland Public Television
(MPT) recently installed a

shared storage environment
in its post-production facility.
The systems will play an
integral role in MPT's creation
of weekly programming for
state and national programmes.
The TerraBlock network is
connected to the Avid editing
systems via 8Gb Fibre Channel.
A Mac system running the Adobe
Creative Suite, Storage DNA for
digital archiving and a Digital Rapids
encoder are also connected.

Eyeheight Adds
Apple Legalizer
USA: Leader will introduce the
latest addition to Eyeheight's
wide range of broadcast legalizer
hardware and plug-ins at NAB.
Previously limited to Microsoft
Windows, the BroadcastSafeMC
plug-in legalizer for Avid
Media Composer is now
available to run on Apple OS X.
Eyeheight's BroadcastSafeMC is a
complete plug-in legalizer, safe-area
generator and graphic measurement
toolset for use with Avid's Media
Composer 7 and Interplay nonlinear
editing systems.

FSI Opens
Euro Ofﬁce
BEL: Flanders Scientiﬁc (FSI) has
expanded its service centre in
Belgium to improve its service
to its European customers.
The operation has been expanding
so that FSI can stock and sell monitors
and accessories directly from this
location in addition to offering direct
repair and calibration services.
FSI said that customers in Europe
will get faster and lower cost
shipments with pricing in Euros.
