NAB Delegates

Commission (FCC) Chairman
Tom Wheeler will provide the FCC
Keynote at the 2014 NAB Show.
The address, on Tuesday, April 8, is
expected to provide insight into the
chairman's views on broadcasting
and what his expectations are on the
regulatory front in the coming years.
Broadcasting has a lot at stake
when it comes to actions taken by
the FCC, said NAB President and
CEO Gordon Smith. We look forward
to hearing from Chairman Wheeler
about his views on spectrum
auctions, ownership regulation
and any number of issues shaping
our industry.

Tom Wheeler became the
31st Chairman of the Federal
Communications Commission
on November 4, 2013. He was
appointed by President Barack
Obama and unanimously conﬁrmed
by the United States Senate.
For over three decades, Wheeler
has been involved with new
telecommunications networks
and services, experiencing the
revolution in telecommunications
as a policy expert, an advocate, and
a businessman.
As an entrepreneur, he started or
helped start multiple companies
offering innovative cable, wireless
and video communications services.

picture camera paired with a

The 4K imaging system will be used
for its NFL regular season coverage.
The combination has been so
successful, FOX Sports used two of
its F55/Cabrio pairings to capture
close up shots during NASCAR's
Daytona 500 and coverage from
Budweiser SpeedWeek events
leading up to the big race.

Joint Task Force Probes Interoperability

Technical Papers
USA: SMPTE has issued a call
for papers for its 2014 Annual
Technical Conference and Exhibition.
Proposed papers must be
informational and must address
technical theory, research,
innovation, application, or practice
specific to any of the evolving
technologies associated with
the media technology industry.
Slated for October, 21 to 23 in
Hollywood, the conference is a
premier annual technology event. For

At ABU Symposium
MAS / USA: Andy Stanton, Director
of Business Development for Wohler
APAC, has presented at the ABU
Digital Broadcasting Symposium.
He presented 'Wohler, MPEG,
ASI, SDI, SDI-HD, and FileBased Confidence', at the
symposium in Kuala Lumpur.
The presentation examined
how MPEG-encoded content
can be monitored efficiently
within modern media facilities.
It looked at the requirements for
multiple channels via ASI signals and
IP structures.
