oday, there is a strong shift
towards Over-The-Top (OTT)
services, meaning live media
delivery using public Internet
inf r a s tr u c tu re, r a th e r th a n
dedicated or managed networks.
At the same time, there is demand
for TV channels for ethnic groups
beyond the usual area of content
distribution.
The final link to end users
is usually handled with HTTP
streaming, or other proprietary
technologies, which run on servers
located as close as possible in terms
of networks delay to end users of
the service. Still, the world-wide
distribution of high-quality live
streams at high bitrates requires a
mature infrastructure running in the
backbone of any type of Content
Delivery Network (CDN).
At IBC 2013, Motama announced
its partnership with Skyline
Communications to integrate the
complete range of IPTV and OTT
servers of Motama into DataMiner.
DataMiner is an advanced
end-to-end multi-vendor network
management software platform
available for the IPTV, satellite, HFC
broadband and broadcast industry.
DataMiner offers one interface
to manage the entire operational
ecosystem, across any vendor
and technology boundaries, which
results in a signiﬁcant reduction of

operational expenses and increased
quality of service.
Motama's servers offer a one-stop
turn-key solution providing endto-end delivery, for both Internet/
Over-the-Top streaming, as well as
for managed IPTV networks using
enhanced multicast distribution.
Motama's product portfolio
includes gateways for DVB to IP
conversion, transcoders, servers for
content contribution and distribution
in WANs, OTT streaming servers,
and a solution for ﬁxing packet loss
issues on the last-mile to end users'

Anevia, reports that Canal+,
the French leader in pay-TV,
has launched a comprehensive
multiscreen service leveraging
Anevia's ViaMotion technology.
Always committed to bring
new and enhanced services to
their subscribers, Canal+ has
consistently been a pioneer in
video delivery. As part of their new
multiscreen service, 125 live SD and
HD channels are now delivered to
viewers across metropolitan France,
the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean
and Paciﬁc regions through a broad
range of both fixed and mobile
devices and in a variety of video
formats including Apple HLS and
Microsoft Smooth Streaming.
The Canal+ choice to deploy
Anevia was driven by the desire to
build their new service on an agnostic
platform able to interoperate with
their ecosystem while guaranteeing
support for multiple third-party
encoders, content delivery networks
and DRM solutions.

ViaMotion also allows Canal+ to
regain full, in-house control over

infringements. Canal+ viewers can
now take their TV experience to
the next level thanks to new video
services such as start-over - again
powered by ViaMotion.

DVEO, the broadcast division of
Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), has
announced a licensing agreement
with RealNetworks Inc. DVEO will
offer high-end Telco-grade encoder/

transcoder/video distribution server
systems, built on RealNetworks
Helix Universal Server.

live and on-demand content to any
IP device - including smart phones,
PCs, tablets and more, with highend, professional-quality video plus
robust security to protect content.
