real-time monitoring and quality
assurance of end-to-end video
distribution. Agama also previewed
the upcoming Version 4.5 of the
solution, which is released to
customers in October.

enhancements across the
complete product suite of the
Agama DTV Monitoring Solution.
The product line includes powerful
head-end and network probes, as
well as embedded consumer-end
monitoring for STBs, gateways
and media players. Top-level
end-to-end views in the central
management systems make it
possible to follow the QoE and
QoS for services all the way
from creation in the head-end to
consumption for each individual
viewer, as well as for groups of
viewers. This allows operators to
quickly identify, pinpoint, prioritise,
resolve and prevent disturbances
af fecting the customer s’
experience, satisfaction and loyalty.
In Version 4.5, Agama introduces
improved presentation possibilities
with a new at-a-glance ‘Worst
Channels’ dashboard widget,
showing the top problematic
services as experienced by the
consumers, and the new ‘MPTS
overview’ for cable service
monitoring. Improvements are also
made to the Enterprise Server’s
‘Timeline Correlation’ view, which
shows monitoring correlation
overviews intelligently aggregated
by service or location, extended

metrics in the Performance
Management application layer,
and much more.

Expansions In OTT
Further, Agama announced that its
QA client for Embedded Monitoring
is now available for all major OTT
device platforms, including iOS,
Android, Silverlight for PC, Windows
Phone and Xbox, JavaScript
(Smart TV/HTML5) and Flash.
This wide-ranging client support
makes quick and streamlined
implementations possible and it
enables operators to gain visibility
of the end-user quality experience
and behaviour regardless of
the mix of end-devices, vital
in today’s multiplatform world.
Highly relevant service usage and
quality metrics are continuously
collected in real-time from the
OTT clients, scalable to millions
of devices. No matter what type
of client or device, the metrics
can be presented in an intuitive,
uniﬁ ed and efﬁ cient manner to
create operational transparency
for service operation teams.
Agama also presented the
latest edition of Analyser OTT, its

sophisticated adaptive bitrate (ABR)
streaming QA probe range for fully
automated QoS/QoE monitoring
and testing of OTT video. This now
supports the MPEG-DASH ABR
streaming technology standard for
active monitoring of live and ondemand MPEG-DASH streams, in
addition to the already supported
HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and
Smooth Streaming protocols.
With its combination of monitoring
depth and breadth, concurrent
capacity and ease of use, the
company claims Analyser OTT is
industry unique.

Recent Customer Deployments
In the ramp-up for IBC2013,
Agama also announced several new
customer deployments including
at Finland’s Elisa and Germany’s
EWE TEL, as well as at the largest
pay-TV broadcaster in UK and
Ireland: British Sky Broadcasting.

deployed an Agama solution to
ensure the service quality and reach
operational excellence in its multiplatform video delivery.
