Fischer Connectors showed
its new ‘FiberOptic’ push-pull
interconnector. This is available
with two or four optical channels.
It is claimed to be quick and easy
to clean thanks to a removable
mono-block mate adapter and
to the possibility of rinsing the
unmated connectors freely under
water or in an ultrasound bath.
The interconnector meets IP68
protection standard when mated
and IP67 in unmated conditions.
Spring optical contacts ﬁlter out
stress applied to the connector
housings while allowing easy locking.
Front Porch Digital announced
that Ericsson is to use the
company’s Lynx cloud-based
storage as the basis of a disaster
playout recovery service which will
be offered to broadcasters. Lynx
can ingest content from tape or
ﬁles. Customers can either manage
ingest and restore processes
manually from supplied software
or automate the processes. Lynx
provides offsite replication of the
content library with a dashboard
view of the stored assets.
Hiltron promoted its range of
satellite communication products
including the HMAM-IOT advanced
satellite antenna mount, HCS4
satellite communications control
system and HMCS D-SNG satellitelink monitor and controller. Based
on Hiltron’s established HMAM
motorised antenna mount, the
HMAM-IOT enables cost-efﬁcient
uplinks to be operated via inclinedorbit satellites. Satcom operators
can achieve substantial reductions
in costs by using satellites that are
beyond their main service life. To
conserve guidance propellant, older
satellites are permitted to drift further
from their nominal target position.
The HMAM-IOT incorporates
advanced tracking capabilities
which enable the antenna to follow
these variations in position.
Leader demonstrated its new
LV5490 waveform monitor which
supports the full range of standard
video production and transmission
resolutions from 525 and 625
standard deﬁnition up to 3840 x 2160
and 4096 x 2160 4K. It incorporates
a high-deﬁnition 1920 x 1080 9-inch
LCD monitor with a wide viewing
angle and high quality colourimetry.
This allows simultaneous analysis
of up to four video channels. The
instrument also doubles as a
high quality picture monitor for
production crews working on
location. Its 4K capability is designed
for production staff working
with latest generation cameras,
whether for digital cinematography
or high-end broadcast applications.

Lynx Technik exhibited the CDH
1813 SDI to HDMI interface which is
designed for monitoring and display.
Two channels of audio can be
extracted from the incoming video
signal. Balanced audio outputs
have selectable full scale range
presets. The two selected audio
channels can also be embedded
into the HDMI output. In addition,
eight channels selected from the
input signal (channels 1 to 8 or 9
to 16) can be embedded into the
HDMI output. Other features include
timecode burn in, 16-channel audio
metering, safe area markers and
AFD code display.

Kaleido-MX and KaleidoModular-X multiviewers. KaleidoMX is available in 8 x 1 up to 64 x 4
conﬁgurations. Kaleido-Modular-X
enables monitoring systems to be
created with a combination of input/
output cards within a 3U air-cooled
Densité 3 frame.
Orad introduced a newgeneration video graphics platform,
the HDVG4. This runs on a 64-bit
operating system offering native
support for 3G/1080p signals. It can
be conﬁgured for up to eight 1080p
outputs or up to 16 1080i outputs.
A single HDVG4 box can generate
4K signal as well as HD 1080i, SD,
and IP stream output, automatically
taking into account multiple aspect
ratios and formats. The HDVG4 can
handle up to 16 live HD video inputs,
retaining a constant two-frame

delay regardless of the number of
video inputs used. An integral clip
store facilitates multiple video clips
playback supporting all commonly
used video codecs. The HDVG4 runs
on the Linux operating system and
is available with a hot swappable
dual power supply, mechanical
and software bypass, RAID based
system disk and SNMP monitoring.
Quantel exhibited its Pablo Rio
colour and ﬁnishing system which
now supports the AJA Corvid Ultra
video card, allowing operation at
4K 60 frames per second. The card
is being offered by Quantel as an
option in Pablo Rio turnkey systems
and is available from AJA resellers
for software-only versions where
customers configure their own
system. The card enables Pablo
Rio to deliver real-time 4K video
output at up to 60fps.
Rohde & Schwarz promoted its
new R&S SLG which can generate up
to 32 digital satellite television signal
streams simultaneously. The R&S
SLG has a 950 to 3,000 megahertz
frequency range and supports
DVB-S, DSNG, DVB-S2, DVB-S2
wide-band, ISDB-S plus ISDB-S2
standards. 16 of the 32 possible
transponders transmit externally
fed transport streams. The others
transmit internally generated PRBS
data. The transport streams are fed
into the instrument via an IP or ASI
interface. The multichannel signal
generator was designed primarily
as an RF test system for satellite
TV components. It is equipped
with all interfaces commonly
used in consumer electronics and
professional satellite electronics.
Snell showed is new Luna
Series of 1U router control panels,
including four LED models and two
LCD models. These have an ultrashallow 50mm rack mount depth.
Compatible with all current Snell
routers and soft panels, the Luna
Series includes a high-density
version with 78 button keys, 72 of
which can be conﬁgured as source

or destination keys for increased
ﬂexibility. Users have the freedom
to conﬁgure each keypad layout to
match a speciﬁc application. Each
button can be colour-coded by
group or function. Each panel in
the Luna Series can be powered in
one of three ways: mains power via
a 12V DC external converter, direct
from 12V DC, or from Ethernet.
Thomson Video Networks
announced that its ViBE VS7000
multi-screen video encoding/
transcoding system now
provides support for the HEVC
compression standard for live and
offline applications. HEVC aims
at obtaining a bit-rate reduction
of up to 50% compared with the
existing H.264 standard. The ViBE
VS7000 supports all major industry
codecs and formats including
MPEG transport streams, Adobe
Flash, Apple HTTP Live Streaming,
Microsoft Smooth Streaming,
and MPEG-Dash.
Volicon demonstrated version
7.1 of its Observer logging and
monitoring system. New and
enhanced modules include Multicast,
Multiviewer, and Observer Mobile.
The Multiviewer module enables
users to watch multiple programmes
on a network wall and employ
the desktop interface to check a
suspect stream. The Observer
delivers the live stream, either as a
high-quality original or as a lowerresolution proxy version, enabling
this multiviewer capability. It can
also drive remote multiviewers.
Observer Mobile makes
streamed media from Observer
available through an Apple iPad
or iPhone. Users have common
media player controls as they
access live streaming content,
as well as previously recorded
content. In addition, users now
have the ability to select the best
bit rate for their viewing device and
network connection.
Wohler showed its new iON
signal management and conﬁdence
monitoring system. Running on
a software platform, it can be
controlled from a web-enabled
PC, Apple Mac, smartphone and
tablet devices, with video and audio
content streamed in real-time.
