Chyron To Merge With Hego
For Top Broadcast Graphics
C

hyron is to acquire Hego Group
in a move that will see the
formation of ChyronHego.
In a share-based transaction,
Chyron will issue common stock
representing 40% of its aggregate
shares in exchange for all of Hego’s
outstanding capital stock.
“The merger of Chyron and Hego
brings together two pioneering
companies to create a global leader in
broadcast graphics creation, playout,
and real-time data visualisation. This
is a truly transformative transaction
for Chyron,” said Michael WellesleyWesley, Chyron President and CEO.
“By combining the teams and
resources of Chyron and Hego, we
will deliver to our customers a highly
diverse and compelling broadcast
graphics capability.”

“Hego has grown quickly over the
last few years but this merger takes
us to a whole new level, especially
in North and South America where
our offerings have been generating
signiﬁcant interest.”

The Chyron and Hego product
lines are viewed as broadly
complementary with little overlap.
It is anticipated that the deal will
see ChyronHego take second place
in terms of global market share.
Hego Group, a privately held
company with its headquarters in
Stockholm, Sweden, has operations
in Norway, Finland, Czech
Republic, UK and USA.

Blackmagic Supports Ski World Cup Broadcast

he FIS Alpine Ski World Cup
is one of the most highly
anticipated events on the winter
sporting calendar and Blackmagic
Design’s ATEM systems assisted
with the entertainment coverage
provided during the event.
Organisers turned to Viennabased event management company
K-Two Communications.
Technical provider 4YOUREYE
built an HD SDI workﬂow around
Blackmagic Design’s ATEM 2 M/E
Production Switcher and 1 M/E
Broadcast Panel for K-Two.
Fan-TV footage was mixed with
the ofﬁcial live feed from ORF (the
Austrian Broadcast Company) and
displayed on eight jumbo LED
screens placed around the venue,

and also distributed to Planai TV, a
local television station.
The entertainment is particularly
important when there are delays
to the action reveals Rene Melik
of K-Two Communications. “Take
for example the opening race,

which was delayed for more than
four hours due to severe weather.
When something like that happens
you have tens of thousands of fans
waiting to be entertained.”
A team of experienced presenters
roamed the crowds with cameramen
conducting short interviews with
fans, which aired on Fan-TV
alongside exclusive material
including interviews with athletes,
event highlights, bloopers and
footage of the audience ‘kiss cam’.
Melik’s team worked with nine
sources in total from both FanTV cameras on site and the ORF,
having access to a broadcast quality
switcher with 16 simultaneous inputs
was essential to their workflow.

service is now available across

Video Pass will now be available to
KDDI’s iPhone and iPad customers,

a new collaboration with AirTies
Wireless Networks, a leading
supplier of wireless home networking
and set-top box (STB) solutions.
Broadpeak’s award-winning
nanoCDN technology has been preintegrated on AirTies’ Air5650 wireless
routers and Air4742 media streamers
to improve live OTT video delivery.
Utilising a combined Broadpeak
and AirTies’ solution, cable and
telecom operators can deliver
live OTT content using only a few
megabits per second.
