Upcoming Gear For NAB 2013
Broadcast and multi-media operators, innovators and end-users head to NAB, Las Vegas for the largest
media and entertainment show on the calendar…

AB 2013 will host 60 international
delegations, including those
attending for the ﬁrst time from
Croatia, Israel, Malaysia, Norway
and United A rab Emirates.
Approximately 30% of the event’s
90,000+ attendees will travel from
155 countries to Vegas for the NAB
Show.
“NAB Show places signiﬁcant value
on international participation from
attendees and businesses,” said
NAB Executive Vice President of
Communications Dennis Wharton.
“We have become the world’s largest
annual international media and
entertainment event by recognising
the global nature of the business
and creating the ideal environment
where deals get done and the best
ideas are exchanged.”
NAB Show’s Exhibit Hall will host
nearly 600 companies that are based
outside of the United States. From
global leaders like Sony (Japan) and
Samsung (South Korea) to hundreds
of others like Vizrt (Norway), Dalet
Digital (France), and Quantel (UK),
these international companies will
showcase cutting-edge technology
solutions and services from around
the world. The exhibition will also
feature pavilions from Belgium,
Brazil, France, Germany, Korea and
the UK, as well as the Department
of Commerce’s US Export Pavilion.
This year’s show will acknowledge
India’s 100 years of ﬁlm creation
by presenting a special award at
the 2013 TV & Film Awards Gala
presented by NY Festivals. A session
featuring top-level entertainment
executives from India discussing
the growth of content produced by
India’s creative community will also
be presented that day within the
Creative Master Series Conference.

The NAB Show also offers a variety
of internationally-focused conference
sessions and an International Trade
Center (ITC) that features onsite
services for international guests
including Commercial Trade
Specialists and multi-lingual staff
in up to eight languages.
And, as ever, NAB will be the
showcase for new technology
developments in the broadcast and
multi-media sectors.
Dalet Digital Media Systems’
Dalet Galaxy boasts a new, totally
revamped, user-friendly, ergonomic
interface along with the versatile new
Dalet One Cut multitrack video editor.
Dalet Galaxy includes an industrystandard BPM workflow engine
tailored for media organisations;
it automates many tasks and
processes, increases productivity
and provides operational and
business visibility. Dalet Galaxy
is an open platform with a variety
of data exchange and integration
paths, including SOA compliant tools
as well as Dalet Xtend connectors
that simplify third-party integrations
with NLEs, broadcast servers, HSM,
automation systems, traffic and
broadcast management, distribution
and business systems.

platform, Dalet One Cut and our

Phabrix will reveal the latest
developments in its modular
Rx rack mount range for test
and measurement at NAB. With
multiple units being conﬁgured for
use in installations ranging from
engineering bays, OB trucks and
broadcast manufacturing, the Rx
modular system is fast becoming
a first choice for T&M where
budgets are tight and feature
requirements are high.
Capable of displaying multiple
channels with the addition of
easy ﬁt modules, the Rx can be
configured with generators and
analysers including the additional
capability of eye pattern automated
measurement, a feature that Phabrix
has continued to develop since it ﬁrst
released its Sx handheld instruments
in 2009. All of its instruments are
SD/HD compliant with an option to
support 3G-SDI.
Thomson Video Networks’
RD6000 is the latest generation of
integrated receiver decoder in the
RD series. Developed for MPEG
contribution applications, the
RD6000 supports today’s highest
quality contribution video feeds and
provides full MPEG-2, MPEG-4, 4:2:0,
4:2:2, 8-bit, and 10-bit decoding in
a single 1RU chassis. Thanks to its
rich set of inputs and multiple audio
decoding capacities, the RD6000
is a natural companion to the ViBE
CP6000 encoder for satellite and
telecom contribution systems.
The ViBE VS7000 video system is
a breakthrough ‘anything in, anything
out’ encoding/transcoding platform
for Web TV, over-the-top (OTT)
services, IPTV, and cable delivery.
The ViBE VS7000 video system
combines Thomson’s renowned
next-generation compression
platform for outstanding picture
quality in an all-IP environment
with live broadcast-quality encoding,
innovative video preprocessing, and
faster-than-real-time ﬁle transcoding.
Thomson Video Networks will also
showcase the world premiere of both
real-time and off-line HEVC encoding
on the ViBE VS7000 platform.
Sonnet will demonstrate its PCI
Express (PCIe) expansion solutions
and storage systems for video,
audio, and broadcast professionals.
In addition to its current lineup of
innovative Thunderbolt-ready
systems, Sonnet will introduce
significant new products to

accelerate workﬂows for all sizes
and types of on-location and
studio productions as well as in
post-production.
Junger Audio will use the
NAB 2013 platform to give US
broadcasters their first view of
V*AP, a brand new two channel
voice processor that is speciﬁcally
designed to make life easier
for engineers working in radio
stations and TV production
voice-over studios.
V*AP, the latest addition to Junger
Audio’s award-winning *AP family of
products, draws on the company’s
extensive experience with previous
Voice Processing devices such as
its v-series, but adds new tools and
algorithms to create a new, easier
and more efﬁcient approach to voice
processing with no compromise in
sound quality.
V*AP’s main task is to offer
perfect control of microphone
recordings but Junger Audio has
also included processing such as
HP/LP ﬁltering, dynamic section,
full parametric EQ and de-essing.
All of the V*AP functions can be
easily performed, making it hassle
free for any journalist or reporter
to use. Junger Audio has also
provided a dedicated voice leveler
combined with a voice over circuit
to help integrate voice programs
into loudness-based broadcasting
on the ﬂy. Using the optional SDI
I/O card automated voice over
for embedded audio becomes an
attractive feature of the V*AP.
Available as either an insert
into a mixing desk or as a standalone unit, V*AP offers interfaces
that allow integration in existing
environments via an AES insert.
The unit can also be used with an
optional analogue board that adds
