Grass Valley Focuses On
Live Production Workﬂow

Valley showcased its latest
innovations in Live Production
workflows

with an end-to-end offering
claimed to deﬁne the future of live
broadcasting.
Pivotal in the lineup was the
versatile LDX Series system
cameras, Kayenne Video Production
Centre switcher, K2 Dyno S
Replay System, and GV STRATUS
nonlinear production and content
management tools.
Based on the beneﬁts achieved
with GV STRATUS, Graham Sharp,
Chief Marketing Ofﬁcer for Grass
Valley, presented on ‘Nonlinear
Sports Production for the MultiScreen World’ as part of the CABSAT
Broadcast Conference.

Miranda Shows Graphics Vision At CABSAT

iranda Technologies showed
two new graphics options for
its iTX platform at CABSAT.
Demonstrated was the Vertigo XG
processor, which provides real-time
CG, DVE and graphics capability
directly into the iTX output server
and integral Adobe After Effects
rendering with iTX Render Service,
which provides unlimited graphics
and text effects.
Miranda’s Kaleido-X multiviewers
provided the visuals for the
system shown.
The new iTX Master Control
combines the scalability and
ﬂexibility of Miranda’s iTX integrated
playout platform with the handson operations for proactive channel

control found in the Imagestore 750
to deliver playout automation with
live-event functionality.
Miranda’s iControl, which
provides content and scheduleaware monitoring, enables instant
review of a facility’s status to detect
and initiate necessary repairs.
Miranda presented the new
NVISION 8140 hybrid router, a
144 x 288 matrix in an 8RU frame
that is suited to mobile production
and smaller studios. NV8140 is
part of the NVISION 8500 Hybrid
router series that now includes
five frame sizes with simplified
cable management and redundant
power supplies, crosspoints and
control cards.

SBC Orders
Harris Maxiva
UAE: Harris Broadcast has secured a
DVB-T2 transmission order from Saudi
Broadcasting Corporation (SBC).
The latest phase of the SBC
modernisation programme will add
transmitters to sites in Aded and
Yabren, bringing the total number
of Harris Broadcast-supported
DVB-T2 transmission sites to nine.
Harris Broadcast will supply Maxiva
ULX (3.4kW) and Maxiva UAX (2kW)
UHF transmitters in cooperation with
Saudi Arabian dealer and systems
integrator First Gulf Company.

Qatari Satellite
AFPTV Contract
QAT: AFP has signed a contract
with the Al Jazeera Media Network
Group to deliver its video service
to Qatari satellite television.
Al Jazeera has joined the five
new clients, which include the
State television channel of Oman.
AFP said that the number of TV
stations subscribing to AFP’s video
products rose by 17 units in 2012.
Coming just over a year after
the subscription of Al-Arabiya, the
contract marks a new chapter in the
growing importance of AFPTV.

Telecast Fiber Systems, was also
demonstrated.

CopperHead contains a ﬁbre link to
a truck or control room to transport
video, audio, data, intercom and
camera-control communications
using a single, lightweight fibre.

UAE: Crystal Solutions showcased
its Spectrum Monitoring and
Recording solution (SMR) at CABSAT.
Crystal SMR enables RF spectrum
owners and users to monitor their
entire spectrum on a 24/7/365 basis.
SMR can record any anomalies
and export the recordings to AVI
ﬁles for easy sharing and analysis.
When combined with Crystal
Solutions Network Management
System plus automation, NMS+,
SMR can provide automated network
responses to satellite interference to
minimise outage times.
