Hitachi To Capture French
Parliamentary Sessions
As part of an HD upgrade, Hitachi DK-H100 HDTV box cameras have been
selected to capture French National Assembly parliamentary sessions...

T

he new cameras are being used
to record the Assembly’s daily
sessions at the Palais Bourbon in
Paris. All footage is subsequently
transmitted over a fibre optic
connection to the master control
room, located 350m away, for
redistribution.
The French National Assembly
purchased eight Hitachi Kokusai
Electric Europe DK-H100 broadcast
cameras through local systems
integrator, Preview GM System.

part of the first HD broadcast
deployment within the bounds of

the parliamentary ‘hemicycle’.

System Engineer at the French
National Assembly, said: “Having
examined cameras from various

providers, we chose the DK-H100
model from Hitachi because of
its size and the value for money it
provided us. The cameras are small
and discreet and we are particularly
happy with the outstanding picture
quality they provide as well as their
handy fibre optic connection.”
With 577 deputies and over 1000
hours of yearly debates, The French
National Assembly is at the heart
of the country’s parliamentary
democracy, with recorded daily
sittings which can often run
into the night.

UGEN Audio has released
VisLM version 1.6, a significant
update to the company’s visual
loudness monitoring tool.
For the first time, VisLM is now
available in the Avid AAX format.
Additionally, VisLM is now available
in a 64-bit OS X version.
“The availability of a plug-in that’s
compatible with both AAX and 64-bit
OS X means that our customers can
continue editing as they always have,
even as systems and technologies
evolve,” said Jon Schorah, NUGEN
Audio Creative Director. “VisLM 1.6
also has a number of other new
features and usability improvements
that our customers have been
eagerly anticipating.”
VisLM 1.6 includes a new dialogue
gate option that enables automatic
measurement of dialogue sections
within the source material.

Fujitsu Releases
New Firmware
USA: Fujitsu Frontech has
announced a new firmware release
that improves end-to-end latency for
its IP-9610, IP-900, and IP-920 HD/
SD H.264 video encoders/decoders.
The new firmware release
helps deliver exceptional picture
quality at reduced bit rates.
Ideal for HD satellite
newsgathering, broadcasting, and
IP streaming applications, Fujitsu’s
H.264 video encoders/decoders are
now capable of operating at less
than 99 milliseconds.

Sound Devices
Enable 4:4:4
USA: Sound Devices’ latest upgrade
to the PIX 240 and PIX 240i Production
Video Recorder is now available.
The update offers Apple ProRes
4444 recording from video sources
over 3G-SDI (4:4:4 RGB or YCbCr).
PIX 240 and 240i users now have
the ability to record Apple ProRes
4444, which offers impressive
quality with 4:4:4 sources and alpha
channel transparency workflow.
Recording 4:4:4 offers superior
colour precision for chromakeying,
colour-grading and editing.

Measurements can now be written
to automation tracks so that the

the digital audio workstation timeline
for diagnostic referencing. Also, the
short-term sliding-window value is
now adjustable.
Editors will see enhancements
to usability, including a simple
“global reset” option and automatic

start/stop/reset of the integrated
program measurement following the

alerts settings are now available
independently, and users can switch
to the compact version from within
the plug-in with a resizable interface.
The VisLM 1.6 plug-in is
now available.
