TVU Networks Introduces TVUPack
TVU Networks has introduced the TVUPack TM8200 mobile wireless 3G/4G/LTE uplink in a backpack, claiming it as the smallest, lightest and most powerful solution in this sector. With TVUPack TM8200, camera crews are able to capture and transmit professional live HD video from more locations while using fewer data cards. TVUPack TM8200 is powered by two innovative new technologies: Inverse StatMux+, the industry’s most resilient and reliable cellular transmission protocol, and TVU264, TVU’s powerful proprietary H.264 encoding engine. With these groundbreaking technologies, TVUPack TM8200 is able to deliver professional-quality HD video in even the most congested network environments. TVUPack TM8200 dynamically segments a video signal and broadcasts it over multiple wireless 3G/4G/LTE, WiFi, WiMax, BGAN, satellite and microwave connections, ensuring that bandwidth from each connection is fully utilised and aggregated. As a result, TVUPack TM8200 is able to deliver unmatched stability, resiliency and picture quality – even in the most challenging network environments. When used in a truck or fixed location, the ultracompact TM8200 encoder (7.25” x 8.5” x 2.25”) can be removed and mounted standalone. The modem module can be placed in a location for optimal coverage, such as near a window or on the roof of a truck, connected by a single cable.

Wohler Enhances DVM Monitor Line
NED: Wohler Technologies has shown enhanced products across its DVM line of MPEG video monitors. Providing advanced T&M features, the DVM video monitors decode and display MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 signals and can browse the PAT, PMT, and PID tables. Providing not only MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding via DVB-ASI streams, but also IPTV sources (Gigabit Ethernet input) and HDMI sources, each monitor is capable of displaying in-picture level metering, video waveform, and vectorscope display.

Meridian Tallis ‘Paint’ Control
GBR: RF camera system manufacturer Boxx TV showcased its Meridian Tallis, an iris control and tally indicator accessory for any wireless camera rig, at IBC. The Meridian Tallis system works with any brand of broadcast camera which uses a standard 12-pin Hirose cable for its lens. The unit solves the problem of providing iris control for a variety of different manufacturers’ cameras by tapping directly into the lens.

Vinten’s ICE Steps Ahead
16 NED: Vinten Radamec showed its next-generation fusion robotics, incorporating the company’s new ICE (Intelligent Control Engineering) technology at this year’s IBC. ICE technology represents a major step forward in camera robotics. The platform provides a motion control system and drive train within the heads to deliver both the fastest and the slowest broadcast quality movement. The ICE motion control system is also able to drive a wide range of full-servo broadcast lenses. The platform harnesses IP technology, allowing control from either the Vinten Radamec VRC or LCS systems over Ethernet. Virtual Reality upgrades available for the full range of ICE heads were also on display at the show.

Orad Debut New Maestro GMAM
NED: Orad debuted the latest release of its Maestro enterprise graphics solution (version 6.7) at the IBC. Headlining the Maestro release is the GMAM (Graphics-oriented Media Asset Management) technology. GMAM facilitates large-scale production operations where multiple users and workgroups spread across different departments require access to graphic production tools. All assets required for the graphic operation are handled by this one system. Also featured in the new Maestro 6.7 release is an order management system that enables better handling of asset requests for video clips and images.

Nevion’s Optical Adaption Modules
NOR: Nevion introduced nextgeneration optical adaptation modules at IBC. Attendees saw enhanced Flashlink solutions that support 3G and 10G with state-of-the-art functionality and versatility through features such as Small Form-factor Pluggables (SFPs). Embracing SFP technology has accelerated Nevion’s advancement into 10G Ethernet adapters at one end of the scale, and DVI/HDMI adapters at the other. Adding SFP interfaces as the standard optical interface not only provides ﬂexibility in wavelength selection but also takes advantage of the expanding third party SFP interfaces. This requires only minimal SFPs to be kept on hand.

IPV Semantic Web Technology
GBR: At IBC, IPV debuted Metadata Central that uses semantic web technology to mine disparate sources of data transforming them into a unified source. Also IPV’s Process Engine is now available as a stand-alone production workflow automation product. IPV showed Curator Live Logger with its multi-camera, controlled vocabulary and annotation tools. SpectreView V5 offers low bitrate video advanced streaming technology.
