PESA Expands With New Routing Switcher
PESA has expanded its PESA PRO line of professional AV routers with the new PRO-3GSDI-1616 routing switcher

The switcher supports all common SMPTE and ITU standard serial digital video signals, as well as embedded audio and other ancillary data required for HD-SDI and DVB/ ASI broadcast sources. For digital cinema high deﬁnition video distribution requirements, it can be conﬁgured to switch SMPTE 372M dual-link HD-SDI in conﬁgurations up to 8x8. The PRO-3GSDI-1616 supports standard data rates from 50Mbps to 3Gbps and video transports up to 1080p/60. All inputs are autoequalised. With standard SMPTE formatted outputs, each signal is auto-sensed and re-clocked to the appropriate transport stream. Signals can be re-clocked up

to 100m for 1080p/60. For nonstandard formats, re-clocking circuitry can be set to bypass mode. Two independent reference inputs allow easy selection of genlock from a black burst or tri-level sync source. Two models are available: the PRO-3GSDI-1616-C and the PRO3GSDI-1616-PB, which includes a local pushbutton control panel. Both models feature an internal power supply and can have multiple remote control panels added via an Ethernet interface. “With almost four decades of proven performance in high-quality broadcast switching products, PESA continues to innovate with cost effective products like the

PRO-3GSDI-1616,” said Dan Holland, PESA Vice President of Product Marketing. “It’s loaded with features normally found in larger router systems, but it ﬁts perfectly in small to mid-size venues where rack space is at a premium.” The PRO-3GSDI-1616’s compact 1 RU frame design features front load, hot swappable card sets, and includes space for an optional redundant power supply and controller module. It is also compatible with PESA’s Cattrax graphical user control interface. Cattrax is an intuitive GUI control system that supports comprehensive configuration, diagnostics, and monitoring of the PRO-3GSDI-1616 as well as the

full line of PESA router frames. The software is installed on a host PC running the Windows® operating system and communicates via an Ethernet port located on each router. Positioned at a more competitive price point, the PESA PRO line includes several new features that make it an attractive package for small to mid-size video switching environments. The PESA PRO line is suitable for SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI switching applications in digital cinema, telemedicine, O&P, high-end presentation rooms, satellite imaging, military command centres, and simulation/visualisation environments. ■

Rohde & Schwarz Adds WLAN Signalling
The R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester and the R&S CMW270 wireless connectivity tester now have new options for accomplishing optimal results.
Rohde & Schwarz offer manufacturers of mobile devices and consumer electronics two universal test platforms: the R&S CMW500 and the R&S CMW270. The R&S CMW500 covers all common cellular and non-cellular standards, while the R&S CMW270 has been customised for noncellular standards. New options now provide additional WLAN signalling functions in line with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n. Manufacturers of WLAN components for smartphones, tablet PCs and laptops can use the R&S CMW500 and the R&S CMW270 during development to test the functionality and performance of their products and to conduct transmitter and receiver tests. Thanks to configurable test parameters, developers consistently obtain comparable and reproducible results that create the basis for objective analysis. Signalling mode measurements are now considerably easier: The t e s t e r s exchange protocol information with the DUT to control the DUT’s settings, eliminating the need for the separate control software previously required for some chipsets. The signalling mode provided by the new options allows developers to test the transmitter of WLAN user equipment as well as the quality of a receiver under realistic operating conditions. The testers measure the data throughput of WLAN components precisely and reproducibly – in both receive and transmit mode. The protocol stack can also be analysed to optimise the message ﬂow between access point and user equipment. The WLAN function is further proof of the versatility of these unique, expandable Rohde & Schwarz test platforms. The new options are suitable for manufacturers of mobile user equipment who already use an R&S CMW500 in development. They can use their R&S CMW500 to measure other wireless standards as well. It is also the test solution for manufacturers of WLAN products who put quality ﬁrst. The versatile R&S CMW test platforms can be used as stand-alone instruments for transmitter and receiver measurements or as part of a complex type test system. The new options for WLAN in signalling mode for the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMW270 test platforms are now available. ■
