Datavideo’s Portable Studio ‘Revolutionary’

Datavideo has introduced a new addition to the company’s line of hand carried systems –the Datavideo HS - 600 portable studio. The HS- 600 is a lightweight, eight-channel, standard deﬁnition studio in a box. It is, in many respects, an affordable version of a full broadcast model, working time and again in the pressured conditions of live video production. The model is designed around the Datavideo SE-600 eight-channel SD switcher, with six composite video, one DVI- D and one DVI- I input. The switcher has two PIP functions, up to two logos displayed on screen, effect wipe and dissolve, SMPTE pattern out, one frame still store, luma key function for text overlay, two AUX outputs and much more. Combining the SE- 600 switcher with the built-in multi-view 17.3” TFT LCD monitor, the HS-600 is designed to be live in seconds. However, it goes beyond simple switching with a number of sophisticated functions that give users the scope to utilise it in demanding conditions. Despite its small size, it can take feeds from up to six cameras as well as mixing the input from graphics stations, PowerPoint presentations and four external microphones. For streaming or other purposes there is an additional DV-SDI output board available with 2x DV out and 2x SDI out, simultaneously and with embedded audio. The SDI outputs can be assigned as main out, preview out, AUX 1 or AUX2. The HS-600 has a light weight, compact design making it suitable for on location work. Ensemble Designs introduced a new Layering Engine for use in broadcast, live venues and presentation at NAB The new Layering Engine, part of Ensemble Designs’ Avenue signal integration system, was demonstrated to visitors to their NAB booth. Ensemble’s new Avenue P9425 Layering Engine provides a “complete and ﬂexible solution” to combining audio and video content for channel branding, small master control, centralcasting, ﬂy-pack, and remote truck applications. More than a traditional mix effect, the Layering Engine, has two independent linear keyers, programme/preset background transitions, and audio mixing, voice over and breakaway. The inclusion of iPad control and monitoring set the Avenue Layering Engine apart from other small mixers and logo inserters. The iPad interface gives the operator freedom and ﬂexibility in switching an event or show. Also, an iPad or web browser can be used to quickly and easily create keyed presets that can be recalled on-air by automation systems.
