ProTune Extends HERO2 Features
USA: GoPro and Technicolor have worked to embed Technicolor’s CineStyle colour proﬁle for the debut of the GoPro Protune ﬁrmware upgrade for the HD HERO2 camera. Certiﬁed by Technicolor, and developed by GoPro, the Protune mode ﬁrmware upgrade is hailed as a significant development for the professional market. The new features, such as 24fps, 35Mbps, a neutral colour proﬁle and reduced sharpening, will allow professional ﬁlmmakers improved integration with other source material and post-production platforms.

Angénieux Adds To Optimo Lenses
Thales Angénieux kicked off their NAB exhibit with a complete line-up of its Optimo ﬁlm and digital cinema lenses. The Optimo series includes the full-size ﬁlm / digital lenses, the lightweight 35mm ﬁlm / digital lenses, and the DP digital lenses for large format digital cameras. The line-up also showcased two new lenses – the Optimo 19.5-94mm 4.7x lens and the 12x Optimo 28340mm lens speciﬁcally designed for 5K cameras, S35 production. The newly introduced 19.594mm and 28-340mm lenses are derived from the same design and offer image coverage up to 31.4m ideal for 5K cameras and S35 productions. The Angenieux Optimo series of hand-held zoom lenses c o m b i n e unique design elements of light weight and compactness, with high performance characteristics of fast aperture, no ramping and minimal to no breathing. The Optimo DP 16-42mm and Optimo DP 30-80mm lenses feature fast aperture of T2.8, calibrated focus marks and no ramping or breathing; they deliver the image coverage of full S35 (31.4mm diagonal). Uplink Feed Collaboration
USA: Panasonic and LiveU announced a collaboration to deliver an integrated camcorder and live video uplink solution. The solution will utilise the LU40i video uplink device and the new AJHPX600 P2 camcorder with planned wireless integration features. The LU40i will be linked via the camera interface, giving camera operators a real-time indication of LiveU’s transmission status and video transmission quality. The camera operator will be able to manage the video uplink.

Fujinon Debut HDTV Lenses At NAB
Two compact HD lenses, each featuring technical ﬁrsts in their size, made their US debut at NAB. The two new HDTV lenses, which expand their respective product lines, are the HA19x7.4BERM/ BERD 2/3-inch Premier Series high-performance HD ENG/ EFP production lens and the XA19x7.4BESM-D8 compact, HDTV studio and ﬁeld box-style lens. The two lenses both with 19x zoom ratios, are the ﬁrst in such a compact size to feature three ﬂoating zoom groups and Aspherics, which combine to produce unsurpassed optical performance. They also feature the latest EBC coating, resulting in richer colours and improved blue response and transmittance. The XA19x mini-box lens offers automatic compensation of focus breathing. This mechanism synchronises the zoom movement to the focus movement, enabling the image size to remain constant when focusing - a must in episodic production. Weighing only 3.3kg, the lightweight HA19x7.4BERM/ BERD 2/3-inch lens is suited to the rigors of high-end ENG/EFP HDTV production, including entertainment, news, sports, and documentaries. The XA19x7.4BESM-D8 is suited to live studio production, such as live news, sports, and entertainment. With features like RS-232 control and tally lights, it can also be used in conjunction with virtual reality studio sets and robotic camera systems.

Inca LED Fresnel
USA: At NAB Litepanels debuted Inca LED lighting Fresnels that are colour-matched to the incandescent tungsten halogen lighting ﬁxtures. Tungsten balanced Inca 4 (4-inch/10cm lens) and Inca 6 (6-inch/15cm lens) Fresnel ﬁxtures are the first members of the series. Both claim dimming from 100% to 0 with no noticeable shift in colour temperature. The Inca Series make it possible for a studio to change over from incandescent to LED ﬁxtures in a staged, multi-year plan.
