third memory slot accommodates an SD card to store user presets. The camera is claimed to be able to deliver low-noise images at up to ISO 20,000 sensitivity. Supporting accessories include five new lenses. GoPro has released a new version of its professional family of 2D and 3D production software (GoPro CineForm Studio Premium and GoPro CineForm Studio Professional) for use with its miniature camcorders. GoPro CineForm Studio Premium captures the most popular features of CineForm’s Neo HD and Neo 3D into a package intended for 2D and 3D broadcast and feature film production. Grass Valley’s recently announced LDK 3000+ is designed for use in 1080i50/60 high definition and 720p50/60 intermediate definition. The LDK 3000+ has three 2/3-inch, 2.4 megapixel CMOS imagers with double-speed digital sampling and dual integrated A/D converters. A new chromatic aberration sharpness process automatically corrects lens errors of lenses via a digital lens interface protocol. This feature is also claimed to improve sharpness at the left and right side regions of the image by up to 40 per cent. A secondary colour corrector is incorporated so that operators can select specific colours in a scene and modify them as needed to enhance or highlight certain features within a shot.

LDK 3000+ is designed for both 1080 and 720

Remote Follow

Hocus Focus wireless remote follow-focus system allows the focus ring of a 35 mm SLR/DSLR or broadcast lens to be operated from up to 200 metres distance. The system provides a choice of 10 bands on which to transmit the encoded data stream plus two userdefinable limits to calibrate motor movement or serve as focus stops. The transmitter requires only a 9 volt battery and the receiver uses a standard 4-pin XLR for 12 volt power input, allowing the operator

I-Movix’ X10 solution, which was introduced at IBC 2011, is claimed to be the first live ultra motion system capable of delivering 300 frames per second real-time continuous extreme slow motion in full HD (or 600 frames per second in 720p) when combined with an EVS live production server. Developed in partnership with EVS, the X10 system, is designed for operation with an EVS XT3 production server under LSM control. The X10

system incorporates a Vision Research high-speed HD camera and provides ‘always on’ slow motion. Other components include a camera control unit, an operational control panel, a slowmotion remote panel (for use in ultra-slow motion replay mode), and is used with an EVS XT3 production server. Ikegami’s Hi-Motion2 super slowmotion HD camera is a cooperative development with NAC Image Technology. It has a three-CMOS sensor camera head with built-in memory delivering greater than tentimes-speed for super-slow-motion playback of HD sports action. The dual format 1080i/720p camera delivers parallel live and replay feeds for use as both a traditional and slow-motion portable/field camera.

onto separate solid state memory cards. 4K recordings up to two hours in length can be made using four 32 gigabyte SDHC cards. Operation and form factor are very similar to JVC’s GY-HM150 with manual or auto control of focus, iris, gain, shutter, gamma level, colour matrix, and white balance. The GYHMQ10 also records full HD (1920 x 1080) at 50/60p or 50/60i onto a single memory card in the AVCHD format.

DSLR

4K Handheld

JVC’s new GY-HMQ10 is claimed to be the world’s first handheld camcorder capable of capturing and recording real-time 3840 x 2160 pixel video at 24p, 50p and 60p. It has an f/2.8 10x zoom lens and high speed 12.5 mm CMOS imager with 8.3 million active pixels capable of capturing live progressive images at up to 60 frames per second. This data is then processed using an array of custom JVC LSI chips that deBayer the image and provide a live 4K output while simultaneously compressing video for recording

Nikon’s new D4 DSLR is capable of recording 1920 x 1080 video 30, 25 and 24 frames per second including stereo audio. Movie clips can be close to 30 minutes in duration. Full HD (1080p) recording is possible in both FX and DX based formats as well as in native Full HD (1920x1080) crop. Uncompressed live HD video can be output to external recorders and monitors (claimed to be the first time this has been possible in an SLR camera). Data output can be scaled down if necessary and is clean of the information overlay that can be simultaneously displayed on the camera’s TFT monitor. Power aperture enables smoother aperture control via assigned buttons on the front of the camera. Index marking allows specific frames to be tagged in the timeline during video recording for easy location during editing.
