Jünger Tools Help ‘CALM’ Loudness

GlobeCast Screens Multi-Platform
USA: ‘Anytime, any screen, anywhere’ will be the theme as GlobeCast spotlights multi-platform delivery at NAB. In addition to announcing the launch of a new over-the-top (OTT) platform in the Americas, GlobeCast will display a streaming Web TV service and highlight its solutions for global satellite and ﬁbre delivery. The company will also highlight the expansion of its commercial footprint in the Americas, with a dedicated Latin American sales team now in place.

Dynamics specialist Jünger Audio will be attending the NAB 2012 convention with two new additions to its *AP family of loudness control processors. The units are speciﬁcally designed to help US broadcasters stay within the parameters of the newly introduced CALM legislation. The *AP family all incorporate Version II of Jünger Audio’s renowned LEVEL MAGIC™ adaptive loudness algorithm, which is compliant with all current broadcast audio loudness recommendations

including ITU 1770 (versions 1 and 2), ATSC A/85, ARIB TR-B32 and EBU R128. Based on a Multi-Loop dynamic range control principle where slow changes (AGC), fast changes (Transient processing) and Look Ahead peak limiting are handled simultaneously, LEVEL MAGIC oﬀers level management with high audio quality and without colouration, pumping, breathing, distortion or modulation eﬀects. Peter Pörs, Managing Director of Jünger Audio, said: “When it comes to controlling audio loudness and

ensuring that broadcast audio stays within the law, our *AP family provides broadcasters with all the tools they need. Major broadcasters around the world are choosing these products because they allow loudness consistency to be maintained without any detrimental eﬀects on sound quality.” At NAB 2012, booth SU3604, Jünger Audio will also show its Award-winning T*AP TV Audio Processor, which made its operational debut at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

Netﬂix Chiefs Thomson Address NAB Launch ViBE On Content Products
USA: Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Oﬃcer of Netﬂix, and Gerhard Zeiler, CEO of RTL Group will speak at NAB 2012. Sarandos will participate in a Content Theater Q&A session on Tuesday from 3pm to 4pm. Gerhard Zeiler’s Q&A session will be held on Monday from 3pm to 4pm. The Content Theater is located on the Exhibit Floor and features a series of presentations from those transforming content creation and delivery. USA: For the 2012 NAB Show, Thomson Video Networks is introducing the ViBE CP6000, a new dedicated high-performance platform for contribution. The ViBE EM4000, a powerful new multichannel HD encoder, and a new IP-enabled version of the Amethyst switcher will also be launched. Thomson Video Networks’ booth will also feature the ViBE VS7000 platform for OTT and convergent TV services, together with solutions for MPEG playout and ATSC MDTV.

Front Porch LYNX Solution Range
USA: Leveraging the latest cloud and web services technologies, LYNX will underpin a range of networked and distributed solutions at this year’s NAB Show. Solutions include: a hosted disaster recovery service for existing DIVA customers; a private/hybrid cloud service allowing global media enterprises to centralise critical assets and consolidate operations; and a public cloud service with DIVArchive® functionality oﬀered on a SaaS (Software as a Service) basis.
