Jesper Gawell, CMO at ChyronHego, unveils the company's key product
announcements for BroadcastAsia 2018, including the latest versions of
PRIME and Virtual Placement...

BroadcastAsia: Can you give us a brief
overview of what we can expect in the next
six to 12 months within your sector?
Jesper Gawell: The broadcast industry
is in the middle of a major transformation
- both in terms of technology, where we're
seeing a shift from proprietary hardware to
all-software workflows, and also new endcustomer behaviours that are disrupting
traditional business models. The need for
video content is greater than ever before. As
vendors in this industry, we need to continue
to innovate and develop ever-more efficient
solutions that help customers all over the
world to greater volumes of better-looking
content, faster and at a lower cost.
BCA: Can you explain the benefits
in regard to the latest product
announcements?
JG: At BroadcastAsia 2018, we're
showcasing key products from our industryleading solutions for news and sports
production, as well as solutions for live
sports and stadium production.
New for BroadcastAsia is the PRIME
Graphics Platform 3.0. The main benefit
of the PRIME Platform is its unique
scalability and flexibility, coupled with
leading rendering performance. Based on
a modular structure, PRIME offers plugins
and packages for different use cases such
as channel branding, interactive graphics,
a production clip server, and new for this
year, a complete toolkit for working with instudio video walls in different aspects and

BCA: Can you advise on your ideal market
for these solutions?
JG: Virtualised, software-based end-to-end
production workflows, paired with OPEXbased business models, create an ideal
solution for temporary projects such as large
sporting events or pop-up studios.
BCA: Which territories do you think will
show particular interest?
JG: Every market has different challenges,
but efficiency and flexibility are universal
requirements. We've added new resources
in the APAC region and are actively working
with partners in all major markets in the
territory. We look forward to working with
customers, both new and existing, to help
them create more beautiful, compelling, and
engaging content.

We will also highlight version 7.0 of our
Virtual Placement product for virtual
advertising and augmented graphics. New
for the show is a Downstream Mode that
allows users to add advertising and virtual
enhancements downstream, instead of
having to locate the system at the venue
or studio. Together with the ability to
output multiple channels of graphics from
a single system, this feature is great for
regionalised advertising or messaging. It's
one more reason why Virtual Placement
is uniquely positioned to help customers
increase revenue streams from
virtual advertising, and it's easier to
use than any other solution on the
market.
Also on display will be version
7.4 of Paint, ChyronHego's awardwinning
telestration
analysis
solution for sports broadcasting.
Paint's power lies in its feature-rich
set of tools and its sheer simplicity
of use, which means that anyone

working on a sports production can use the
tool, whether in front of the camera or behind
the scenes. Paint 7.4 boasts full 4K support
including built-in recording in 4K, as well
as new IP capabilities including support for
HTTP H.264 recording of live IP streams.
Also joining Paint's existing integration with
EVS slow-motion replay servers is an allnew integration with the LiveTouch replay
system from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand.
In addition, Paint 7.4 includes an all-new
Publish To Social Media tool and automatic
player-tracking capabilities that remove the
need for key framing, enabling the industry's
fastest delivery of telestration to air.
BCA: What challenges did you face when
designing the products?
JG: At ChyronHego we fully understand
our customers' challenges. As
we've said, media operations
are expected to not only deliver
great-looking
content
but
produce more than ever before
and get it published ASAP to
multiple platforms and outlets
- all at a lower total cost of
ownership. We believe it's our
task to provide tools that realise
these goals. Ease of use

meet our customers' demands.

BCA: Any future product innovations
ahead that you can discuss?
JG: At ChyronHego, we know that the
future of production will be all-software
workflows. This is the only way we can
provide the efficiency, scalability and
flexibility that is so very much needed in
today's media landscape. We've already
showcased a true end-to-end softwarebased production workflow running in a
virtualised environment, both in a private
data centre and in the public cloud. This,
coupled with new OPEX-based business
models, has game-changing possibilities for
media production, and we will continue to
push the technical envelope together with our
customers on all continents.
