Edgeware's Ad Enabler
Makes APAC Debut
Edgeware will demonstrate its latest solutions for TV delivery at BroadcastAsia 2018,
as well as highlight the results from its research into content piracy...

T

he company will debut several of its new
technical functionalities for TV delivery at
booth 4B3-01, including its award-winning Ad
Enabler which was introduced at NAB Show
2018. Implemented as part of Edgeware's
origin solution, it allows commercials to be
inserted into the content stream, accurate
to the frame, which results in a glitch-free
transition between programme and advert.

native format for Android devices which are
used by the majority in the mobile device
market. The Ad Enabler has been verified
with OTT ad tech solutions
provider Yospace to allow serverside ad insertion which prevents
blocking ads by the end user. It
expands possibilities for return on
investment.
Edgeware will also demonstrate
the OTT service architecture it
built for TVB's MyTV Super in
Hong Kong. The system is highly

scalable, delivering 100 live channels at
broadcast quality and higher. 50 channels are
delivered in each of two encoding formats
- 1080p25 and 1080p50 high-quality live
video broadcast with HEVC codecs at 4 and
6Mbps - as well as 4K HEVC VoD. It provides
broadcast levels of service stability.
After Edgeware's successful launch of
its award-winning forensic watermarking
solution at IBC2017, it commissioned its
own original research into piracy habits. The
research, which was conducted by YouGov,
explores how end users change their viewing

behaviour when they are aware that an online
TV stream has been watermarked.
Edgeware will also demonstrate how its
forensic watermarking can be deployed by
content owners to protect their increasinglyexpensive TV content. The software stops
pirates from stealing and redistributing
streams online with unique bitstream
watermarks that can be easily traced to
individual users.
