VAS Creative Launches New
Media Delivery over IP Service

BroadcastAsia: Can you give us a brief
overview of what we can expect in the next
six to 12 months within your sector?
James Wang: Nowadays, content source
has transformed from traditional analogue to
digital signal delivery. In the coming years,
broadcasters will be building their own
OTT services to provide various content
to subscribers, and alternative solution of
content delivery will become a key topic
in OTT industry. MDI (Media Delivery over
IP) Service provided by VAS Creative
breaks through the limitation of content
delivered through traditional terrestrial and
cable operators. It allows the content to be
presented on multi-platform to engage more
audience and generate more views.
In addition, many internet celebrities today
have risen to fame due to the growth of the
Internet and the popularity of video content
on social media. It drives the demand for Low
Latency Live Streaming dramatically. VAS
Creative brings the Low Latency technology
to internet celebrities, live sport channels
or live event and enables a large number of
viewers to enjoy quality viewing experience in
real time.
BCA: Can you explain the benefits
in regard to the latest service
announcements?
JW: In 2018, VAS Creative releases an
upgraded carrier-grade OTT platform service.
It contains hybrid cloud system architecture

solutions that OTT operators have nowadays
been seeking for. We help clients implement
OTT Services with the promises of shorter
platform enabling time, well-planning system

BCA: What challenges did you face when
designing the services?
JW: The biggest challenge of IP-to-IP-to-TV
system design is to achieve reliability and
stability in content delivery. After continuous
testing and development, VAS Creative has
achieved technical compatibility and released
the Media Delivery over IP (MDI) service.
In terms of advocating the service,
hesitation of broadcasters in adopting new
delivery methods and the restrictions of
system compatibility with broadcasters'
current equipment are the difficulties we
have encountered. However, the wave of
live sport/event streaming will soon push

broadcasters to realise the benefits of IP
transmission and accept the Media Delivery
over IP (MDI) service.
BCA: Which territories do you think will
show particular interest?
JW:
VAS Creative are targeting
broadcasters, content providers, and small
OTT operators who need global carrier-grade
OTT platform services to serve viewers.
Our solution is especially appealing to large
scale live sport/event broadcasters who are
seeking real-time and stable delivery of HD
and 4K+ content to multi-platform in any
format.
Other sectors that could benefit from
VAS Creative Hybrid cloud OTT platform
and Media Delivery over IP (MDI) solution
include internet celebrity video sites and live
broadcast needs from China, Taiwan and
Southeast Asian countries. VAS Creative will
not only meet the basic requirements; we
also create a smooth and seamless viewing
experience.
BCA: Any future product innovations
ahead that you can discuss?

JW: Global broadcasters and content
providers are facing the demand for 4K/8K
content delivery in high-speed. Satellites
can't be the ideal choice due to its high cost
and the long preparation lead time required.
CDN operators will need to deal with highspeed large package data exchange and face
the challenge of low latency transmission in
UHD quality.
In response to the arrival of the OTT
revolution, VAS Creative is currently
undergoing hybrid cloud system design
and the development for the new generation
content
delivery
encoding
system.
Combining 5G and VAS Creative MDI (Media
Delivery over IP) service, it will be the
ultimate solution for future content delivery in
UHD. New services will be announced in late
2018.
BCA: Can you advise on your ideal market
for these services?
JW: Broadcaster, content provider and
UGC owners are the primary customers of
our business sector. Once the technology
achieves high-speed and ultra-low latency
to deliver video content instantly, the market
demand for satellite will be dramatically
reduced.
The earlier our customers adopt to the
new delivery methods and technology,
the easier for them to take lead in the fastgrowing new media era. We have prepared
the next generation IP-to-IP-to-TV content
delivery solution and have all aspects of
technology ready. It's only a matter of time
for broadcasters and content providers to
take the step for the transformation.
