Powerful & Effective Storage
Systems from Dynamic Drive Pool
DDP - Dynamic Drive Pool - is a multi-award winning, high-performance storage solution
designed to meet the demands of film, video and audio users...
t is simple and affordable but packed with
the most innovative technologies for postproduction and broadcast.
DDP offers IP SAN based full-project and
file-level sharing, in a single namespace with
SSD caching, load balancing and automatic
data redistribution. Dedicated to increasing
productivity, it offers additional features such
as linear bandwidth scaling and mirroring.
All in one box, from one Ethernet bandwidth,
using 100% of the available bandwidth for the
ultimate in efficiency and reliability.
DDP OS V5
Version 5 of the DDP OS provides
heterogeneous DDP cluster configuration
and load balancing. With the new V5 OS
multiple DDPs can be clustered together. If
one system fails, all clustered DDPs can act
as a substitute so important data is always
available. Data replication is carried on in the
background, enabling clients and applications
to continue operating without interruption.
Accessing multiple clustered DDPs in
parallel promises advanced data availability
and increases throughput. The V5 allows
multiple DDPs on the same network to stream
(and I/O) data in parallel, controlled by one
master DDP which holds the metadata and
tells all desktops connected to the network
where to write (or read) the data to (or from).
Whether you use Avid Media Composer,
Premiere, Final Cut or Resolve, all editors can
work simultaneously with the same media
and projects, freely sharing materials and
ideas; no time-consuming set-up required.
The underlying technology is seamless,
allowing creative editors, directors, and
producers to concentrate on their work while
DDP takes care of the sharing process.
By developing dynamic file-based caching,
DDP offers the most advanced method of
SSD caching available. With on-demand,
pinned and locked caching algorithms, DDP
administrators can choose which caching
methods to assign to any folder volume.
These features offer the widest range of
performance options for live ingest and
playout, transcoding and editing, as well as
the most demanding grading and finishing
workflows. Where other solutions 'move' files
in and out of cache, DDP's caching process
is based on its new Dual Path Technology
(DPT) which 'copies' data in and out of the
cache. When you're done, files are deleted
without having to wait for another data move.
DDP MCS (Multiple Connections per
Session) allows you to combine several
1GbE, 10GbE, or 40GbE connections for
increased performance. By simply using two
1Gb/s Ethernet cables between DDP and a
client machine, you can double the usable
bandwidth. This means you can playback
10bit HD uncompressed video 160-180MB/s
with no drop frames.
Everything - from the creation of users and
groups with passwords, to the assignments
of specific DDP volumes for each of them and
the assignments of specific permissions for
(sub)folders - can be configured according to
Access Rights can be set for each folder

the DDP volume capacity, altering availability

DDP technology means the metadata is
independent of the data, which is stored in
Data Locations. The metadata shows up as
one virtual volume which can hold folders
with volume properties called FolderVolumes.
For each FolderVolume you have precise
access control; you can assign quota in order
to manage capacity. This gives you a unique
way of using SSD caching. You decide where
data resides by selecting Data Locations,
and you can assign volume properties to any
folder or subfolder. Quota Control enables
you to modify the available space a user can
see and use for a given folder volume, in real
time. When you need extra space on a folder
volume, the quota size can be increased

the required Access Right management tools.
Medeis MAM & PAM:
Supercharge Your Media
DDP offers bandwidth control on the iSCSI
block IO level. Settings can easily be altered
so that bandwidth limits are subject to
negotiation between the target and source.
Upload and download bandwidth can be
adjusted without any loss of TCP/IP frames
and can be set independently on each
desktop, giving the user complete control.

GMA Networks - Philippines uses the DDP solution
view, tag, search and share your entire media
with all industry-standard video applications.
Creating proxies is simple, and all processes
from ingest to playout can be fully automated
with additional Medeis modules.
All DDPs integrate the Archiware P5 which
is a complete software solution for data
backup, synchronisation and archiving. The
standalone, scalable DDP series comes with
a free licence of P5 backup for professionalgrade backup to LTO tapes, the chosen
technology used by large corporations, banks
and broadcasters. P5 allows data backup
to LTO tapes using a single tape drive; an
unlimited number of tapes can be written and
P5 Backup keeps track of all tapes and files.
