TBN Mzansi Channel Goes Live with
PlayBox Technology

rinity Broadcast Network (TBN) has
selected PlayBox Technology AirBox Neo
channel branding and playout for one of its
African services.
Supplied and integrated in primaryplus-backup configuration by PlayBox
Technology's
Johannesburg-based
distribution partner Pro Sales Broadcast, the
new systems are providing programmes to
viewers via Africa's second largest digital
satellite television service, Kwesé TV, on
channel 810.
Kwesé TV's Premium Subscription
Service reaches subscribers in more than
12 countries across Africa and additional
launches are already planned.

"AirBox Neo provides the facilities needed
to pre-schedule programmes for automated

AirBox Neo adds UHD capabilities to the
core PlayBox Technology content playout
system which now supports UHD, HD and SD
in single server. Designed for 24/7 unattended
operation, AirBox Neo can also be operated
manually, including the ability to handle liveto-air throughput.
DataBox Neo is a highly integrated SQLbased database for media and content
management, allowing instant access to
more than 20,000 records simultaneously.
Content is classified by many aspects such
as type, category, genre, keywords, credits

and media. All PlayBox Technology modules
obtain information about visual content from
DataBox Neo. This enables many tasks such
as logo overlay, archiving/retrieving data and
building/conforming on-air playlists, to be
simplified or completely automated. Content
can be easily searched through by dedicated
multi-profile search, as well as by an intuitive
multi-criteria filtering system.
TitleBox Neo provides total control during
on-air sessions, including text selection,
running speed and transitions. Among
its additional creative facilities are preconstructed graphic components, video

resizing (from live source or file), windowstyle display and website content ingest.
ListBox Neo enables programme editors to
create and edit schedules days or weeks in
advance of transmission. No special server
or hardware is required as ListBox Neo runs
flawlessly even on a notebook, including
software-based trimming and previewing.

Grass Valley Launches New Feature
Set for K-Frame V-Series

G

rass Valley, a Belden brand, is
demonstrating how it is enabling
customers to future proof their systems with
IP and 4K-UHD through the launch of a new
feature set for its K-Frame V-series video
switcher.
Transitioning to IP and SMPTE 2110 is
allowing broadcasters, production houses
and media organisations to expand their

infrastructures. Grass Valley's V-series
switcher addresses this need with a modular
mid-range switcher with an IP I/O option.
This module allows users to easily migrate
to IP from an existing SDI environment at their
own pace. Supported IP standards include
SMPTE ST 2022-6 and -7 as well as SMPTE
ST 2110-20 and 30.
Another new module is an SDI conversion

I/O module that supports up/down/cross
conversion to and from HD and 4K-UHD (2SI
or SDQS) on inputs and outputs as well as
conversion between 2SI and SDQS.
Additionally, users can 'gearbox' a single
12G SDI link into a quad-link for internal
processing, or quad-link into 12G-SDI single
link outputs.
These new features bring added versatility to
the modular V-series switcher that give users
increased flexibility to handle multiple formats
within a single live production workflow.

A new feature set is available for K-Frame V-series

Existing customers can benefit from the new
hardware with the addition of either of these
modules and a simple software upgrade.
The upgraded V-series switcher is on
display at stand 4R2-01.
