Telescript Adds Versatility
to PTZ Prompters
As the use of PTZ cameras continues to grow in popularity
in studios, it's obvious that a good teleprompter solution
also needed to be available...

O

ver the years Telescript has made custom
solutions for PTZ cameras," said Chris
O'Brien, Managing Partner of Telescript
International (stand: 4Q4-04) . "We made a top
mount system that turned the camera upside
down, utilising the wider parts of our standard
trapezoidal hoods, as well other solutions with
a more traditional mounting system, but these
all fell short of meeting customer needs," he
continued.
"We needed to think outside the
box," said Jim Murphy, Director
of Product Development and
Customer Support Specialist.
"Customers want digit tallies,
The glass and hood can be folded away
from the camera when not in use

talent monitors, and timecode clocks and
they also want as much range as possible
to fully utilise the capabilities of the PTZ
camera."
The team at Telescript went to the drawing
board and came up with the only folding PTZ
prompter system in the world. "My job at
Telescript is to develop hardware solutions
that are easy to use and make sense in any
application," said Robert Helder, Director
of Manufacturing and First-Class
Machinist, a 40-year veteran of the
company. "We had already won
numerous awards for our Fold & Go
system and I knew if we could just
expand on that extremely successful

platform, we could deliver a design that no
one else could," said Robert.
The solution that Telescript
came up with is the Robo/
PTZ-210, the first offering
from Telescript that includes a
21.5" 16x9 monitor with SDI, HDMI, VGA &
Composite/PAL inputs. The system has a 24"
wide beamsplitter that allows the PTZ camera
to have a tremendous amount of panning
ability while the prompter is in use. The true
strength of the offering is in the fact that the
system allows the user to fold the glass and
hood away from the camera when not in use,
freeing the PTZ camera to have full panoramic
motion when the teleprompter is not being
used. As with every Telescript solution, the
ability to add a clock, tally or talent monitor is
included in the Robo/PTZ-210 product is also
possible.
As soon as we had this product, PTZ

RTS Introduces ODIN OMNEO
Digital Intercom Matrix
RTS' ODIN OMNEO (Stand 6E3-01) digital intercom matrix has launched globally...

addition to the RTS portfolio.
ODIN condenses decades of
experience and the latest RTS
innovations into a compact
single rack unit package that
offers state-of-the-art IP technology
along with analogue connectivity. Where
previous-generation digital matrix products
were significantly larger and more costly to
own and operate, ODIN's feature set and form
factor are designed to make a professional
matrix solution more accessible and easier to
use than ever before, opening up the benefits
of IP-based communications for a wide range
of new markets and users of all levels.
In keeping with the RTS principles of
forward thinking and backwards compatibility,
ODIN can seamlessly integrate into the
most sophisticated, large-scale intercom
operations, extending the value of the initial
investment, while also providing a path for
system expansion for smaller users who want

to upgrade existing RTS systems to the latest
technologies.
ODIN's features include the capacity of two
OMI-64 cards (64-ports each) - up to 128
channels of digital audio over IP in OMNEO
format - fully compatible with Dante and
AES67; connections for up to 16 analogue
keypanels; Inter-Frame Link connectivity for
linking multiple frames together; a powerful
master controller; built-in connectors for
analogue two-wire partyline; and a redundant
power supply for an extra layer of protection
against failure.
With connectors for OMNEO IP technology,
analogue two-wire and four-wire, ODIN

camera manufacturers were on board. "It's
always nice to reach out to our great partner
network and receive loaner camera systems,"
said Chris O'Brien. "Once our partners had
a chance to see how much versatility we
could deliver with this product, the praise we
received was overwhelming."
The accessories available with the Robo/
PTZ-210 include our 17.3" 16x9 talent return
monitor, the ClockOne timecode display unit
that also can act as a tally, changing from
green to red; and the TallyOne camera number
tally that also turns from green to red.

supports IP-based ROAMEO wireless
systems and KP-Series keypanels, and, as
always, analogue RTS legacy keypanels.
Dante-enabled OMNEO is standard on
RJ-45 connectors or is available using
optional optical fibre SFP connectors. Users
can flexibly define ports to use any of the
available connector types. As a user's
capacity needs evolve, a single ODIN can
grow from the basic 16 ports to a
maximum of 128 ports;
up to eight ODIN units
can be connected via
an optical Inter-Frame
Link to create a single matrix with up to
1024 ports.
The front panel has a colour graphical user
interface based on icons to support the most
common setup and configuration tasks. The
AZedit and IPedit software applications have
been updated to support ODIN for more
complex configuration tasks. Whether the
user wants to expand intercom functionality
with an IP-based system at a regional theatre
or large house of worship, or whether the
goal is to start streamlining a larger system's
footprint and cost of operation in an OB van
or broadcast control room, ODIN stands
apart as the most comprehensive intercom
solution RTS has ever made - all in 1RU.
