ounded in 1991 in Novosibirsk, Russia,
SoftLab-NSK
develops
hardware
and software systems for TV broadcast
automation.
The company's flexible and cost-effective
solutions are in demand beyond the borders
of Russia, with 27,000+ licenses sold in
30+ countries. SoftLab-NSK's products are
primarily aimed at central and regional TV
companies, regional cable operators and lowbudget TV studios. Products are based on
its own boards - FD322, FD422, FD722 and
FD842- which allow very robust solutions for
24/7/365 environments at an affordable price
with free software updates, and free technical
support (e-mail, Skype, phone or remote
access).
The company's flagship product is a
broadcast system, the Forward T video
playout server. This system combines
everything necessary for both retransmission
and broadcasting of its own channel
including:
* Playback of media files of all popular

formats and compression types;
* Switching between several nonsynchronous video inputs of different formats;
* Delay of the pass-through video and audio
(time-shift);
* Overlaying multi-layered animated
graphics with alpha channel;
* Interaction with external equipment via
GPI signals or serial ports;
* Automatic recognition of special start
/ end cues for automated advertisement
insertion.
SoftLab-NSK is introducing its standalone
Forward Splicer device. It can splice up to
10 programmes in MPTS encapsulated with
T2-MI. Splicer works with CBR streams

with SCTE-35 marks. SCTE-118 standard
is supported for automated content and
schedule loading.
For the first time the new channel-in-abox solution with Ultra HD HEVC real-time
encoding is on show. It runs on Intel NUC - a
very small PC with low power consumption.
The server plays videos, overlays graphics
and shows picture-in-picture alongside a
schedule.
SoftLab-NSK is also showcasing its
solutions for live production: Forward
Goalkeeper; SLSportTitler; and All¹Mix.

Forward Goalkeeper is a system for
multichannel recording (up to 12 HD-SDI
channels) and slow-motion instant replay.
The user interface allows monitoring
of all inputs, marking of interesting
events, prepare and start replay from
any camera with variable speed from
-100% to 200%.
SLSportTitler overlays automated
sport graphics for ice-hockey, football,
basketball, volleyball, handball etc. The
system can be integrated with scoreboard to obtain real-time game info
(period number, time, score etc.).
All¹Mix allows live switching of multichannel
video. It can be used as a replacement
for traditional hardware solutions like
video switchers, CG stations etc. All¹Mix
includes extended tools: playback of various
multimedia materials; creation, editing and
interactive work with simple or complex
CG overlays; simplified virtual studio
with three-dimensional scenery and 3D
animated transitions; audio/video processing
(colourkeying etc.). Live broadcasting mode
is combined with simultaneous recording and
