Telemetrics Delivers its Latest Products
Telemetrics is showcasing its OmniGlide
and reFrame solutions at booth 4Q4-04...

T

he patent-pending OmniGlideTM Roving
Platform enables continual motion along
multiple predetermined paths and angles.
It features a unique orbital drive system
which offers the freedom of motion without
limits, and this provides ultra-smooth and
continual motion through direction changes
and along curved paths. It allows an operator
to easily create dynamic moves such as
crabbing or spinning on a dime without losing
camera orientation.
Robotic Mode allows an operator with a
remote control to move the robotic platform
via: Joystick control in an XY-plane, pointto-point timed and synchronised preset
positions, key frame motion through
multiple points, record and playback
motion, and autonomous reFrame. This
new roving pedestal also utilises advanced
software and XY sensors, similar to those
of the autonomous car industry, to aid in
its unmanned operation. Not only does the
OmniGlide operate under robotic control, it
supports the reFrameTM feature of the RCCP1A camera control panel. Both leverage
AI technology to learn more about the
environment. OmniGlide learns the room and
reFrame applies facial recognition for easier
shot framing.
Manual Mode control is designed to be
cooperative with humans by aiding local
operation with "Motion Assist" technology.
This technology helps the operator to easily
move the pedestal with assistance from
its software-driven, electric motors - an
otherwise labour-intensive task - while also
allowing them to manoeuver the pedestal and
then save those moves for later recall. Manual
handles with ergonomic placement of control
allows anyone to operate the OmniGlide
locally with minimal effort.

high-end XY-plane scanners to sense floor
obstructions within a 16-foot (5m) radius
with quick response and high resolution.
These sensors are used for collision
avoidance, pending obstruction warning,
home positioning and calibration, and autoorientation compensation. Optional infrared
cameras can also be integrated into the
pedestal to provide absolute positioning by
pointing at strategically placed reflectors
on the studio ceiling. This allows highly
precise and repeatable camera moves to be
performed with ease. With the OmniGlide's
new design advances, the operator can
perform crabbing or rotation-on-itself motion
with the pedestal, enabling it to turn on a dime
to produce a wide variety of new and highly
creative shots.
By replacing hardware mechanisms with
advanced control software, the Telemetric
OmniGlide Roving Platform is designed
with fewer moving parts, resulting in less
maintenance and reduced operational
costs. The design also features an in-house
developed real-time servo system for optimal
control and advanced capabilities and

fully redundant electronics and electronic
communications. Self-fault monitoring, auto
disable, and an ultra-rigid chassis provide
support to our full line of column actuators
offering easy installation with a detachable
rear panel allowing our customers to forge a
new path.
The Telemetrics RCCP-1A Legislative
Camera Control Panel is designed for
government applications that have a need
to capture multiple speakers using a single
controller. Thanks to unified control for
camera robotics and camera shading, the
system enables users to provide more
camera coverage, more dynamic camera
moves and more points of view - all at a low
cost.
With dedicated LCD keys, as well as key
on and key off functions, the RCCP-1A
LGS will have control over transitions and
will work in conjunction with control of a
third-party character generator to display
presenter names, meeting titles, emblems
or agenda information as programmed. The
system is further capable of interfacing with
microphone systems through which it will
connect the open microphone to the camera
with the best shot of the speaker available.
The RCCP-1A LGS features a customisable
room overlay (bitmap) allowing an operator
to import a view of the room to be used
for visual shot recall. Quick access to

custom overlays, stored presets and builtin intelligence for on-air cameras allow the
user to easily select the best camera angles
and add graphics with one-button press.
Used in tandem with reFrameTM Automatic
Shot Correction technology, this software
brings an important automation capability to
larger committee meetings involving multiple
presenters who may shift positions and cause
the need for an operator to continuously trim
the shot.
Using built-in advanced machine learning
and artificial intelligence algorithms, the
control panel with reFrame Shot Correction
uses video from the robotic cameras to
recognise the person on camera and autocorrects the framing, providing ultra-smooth
camera movements that look fluid and
natural. reFrame uses the image recognition
algorithms to lock the camera onto the
speaker and to track one or multiple faces.
The facial recognition can also confirm
stored titles within the character generator
for confidence in consistently displaying a
person's proper title. Additionally, multiple
tracking profiles can be stored to control
the framing, correction window and motion
smoothness. This further allows for dayto-day changes such as a new presenter, a
chair in a new position or the presenter simply
missing their mark. reFrame will automatically
trim the shot without the operator ever
having to touch the controls, making manual
adjustments a thing of the past.
