Handheld Image Quality

The latest flagship, which debuted at NAB
2018, is equipped with the world's first
4K three ½-type Exmor R™ CMOS sensor
that is custom-designed for broadcast 4K
acquisition and delivers a deep depth of field
with superb image quality. Notably, red, blue
and green light are independently captured by
separated image sensors, contributing to high
resolution, high sensitivity of F12 (59.94p)
and wide dynamic range. In addition,
advanced LSI - featuring intelligent noise
reduction, enhanced detail reproduction and
distortion correction technologies - delivers
remarkably life-like 4K 4:2:2 10-bit images.
Sony's PXW-Z280 achieves amazingly
fast precision auto focus with its advanced
Face Detection Autofocus (AF). The newly

introduced function - Face Only
AF - ensures that subjects in
more demanding 4K shooting applications,
such as recording interviews or lectures, will
automatically stay in pin-sharp focus when
applied together with registration function of
the face. Sony's unique Electronic Variable
ND filter allows greater exposure control by
varying the density of the ND filter during
shooting while maintaining resolution and
depth of the fields.
Spectacular HDR images are possible with
the PXW-Z280 by utilising either S-Log3,
that captures as much data as possible for
ultimate grading flexibility, or Instant HDR
that shoots, edits and views content in
Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) to deliver imaging
expression with no compromise.
A key highlight of Sony's PXW-Z280
would be its revolutionary networking
capabilities. The camcorder is the world's

first that delivers content through built-in
Dual Link Cellular connection - either 5GHz
or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, dependent on country/
regional regulation - doubling the uplink
performance and reliability. In addition, Sony
is the pioneering manufacturer to include a
12G-SDI feature into a compact handheld
camcorder, achieving 12Gbps content
transfer that revolutionises users' workflow
with 4K content.
