Interra Systems Delivers
VOD on Every Screen
Interra Systems is exhibiting at booth 4T3-06 as Kanishka Tongya,
Sales Director, APAC & MEA at Interra Systems, explains...
BroadcastAsia: Has BroadcastAsia come
at a good time for the media industry?
Why?
Kanishka Tongya: BroadcastAsia attracts
a regional audience, giving us a great
opportunity to connect with customers, as
well as channel and technology partners
in APAC. We look forward to meeting with
service providers to discuss the challenges
they face in delivering video and explaining
how our QC and monitoring solutions are
unparalleled in terms of the superior QoE,
cost savings, and workflow efficiencies they
provide.
BCA: What do you think are the key
developments in, or threats to, your market
sector at the current time?
KT: Change is ongoing in the media
industry, with OTT video services revenue
expected to reach US$24.41 billion by
2022 in the Asia-Pacific region,
according to Research and Markets.

The broadcast and post-production
markets are looking for ways to improve
video quality and streamline workflows,
and Interra Systems leads the industry
in providing end-to-end solutions that
address these issues.
BCA: Do the latest technological
advances and standards bring further
challenges when it comes to working with
content?
KT: New standards, formats, device types,
and changing video production and delivery
approaches make video streaming workflows
significantly more complex than traditional
broadcast. Without an end-to-end QC and
ORION is a real-time content monitoring system
With BATON, users can implement a hybrid QC solution
monitoring solution, service providers in the
region are challenged to deliver high-quality
video streams.
BCA: Are more companies turning to
hybrid solutions for their needs?
KT: Yes, the industry is capitalising on
the advantages of hybrid solutions. The
issue with a completely automated QC
workflow is that it does not fully implement
an organisation's overall QC policy. Relying
on a combination of auto QC and manual
intervention, broadcasters can better
understand false negatives and positives,
detect critical issues that aren't yet detected
by automation alone, and take appropriate
corrective measures.

Interra Systems' BATONĀ® hybrid QC system
is the perfect example of how to implement
a hybrid QC solution and is successfully
being used by leading broadcast and postproduction houses to support a combination
of automated and manual QC checks. The
result is a well-integrated and efficient
broadcast workflow.
BCA: Are organisations still unsure
regarding the full potential of OTT services
or the cloud?
KT: OTT workflows in the cloud have
been gaining traction over the months.
The industry is a lot readier for cloudbased OTT services than last year. Our
customers are adopting cloud-based
OTT workflows in order to launch
streaming services more quickly and
cost-effectively.
BCA: Why should delegates visit your
stand at BroadcastAsia 2018?
KT: Interra Systems is demonstrating
how it is helping service providers
deliver high-quality live and video-on-demand
content on every screen in the most efficient
and cost-effective manner possible. Beyond
its end-to-end QC and monitoring solutions,
Interra Systems plays a larger role in the
software-based digital media solutions space
through innovations in artificial intelligence
and machine learning techniques.
New features for Interra Systems' QC
product Baton and Orion and Orion OTT
family of monitoring solutions are on show,
including exhaustive QC checks, adaptive
bit rate (ABR) stream validation, real-time
quality of experience (QoE) measurements,
live content monitoring, and deep-dive
compressed stream analysis.

Clear-Com Introduces the New E-IPA Card
Clear-ComĀ® is introducing the next phase of IP communication with its new E-IPA card...
A
new audio-and-intercom-over-IP platform
which delivers the highest intercom
channel density on the market today, the
E-IPA Card - with its game-changing set of
capabilities - is on display at booth 4Q4-01.
The increasing use of IP as a transport
protocol
by
broadcasters
provides
opportunities for innovation in production
communications. IP merges audio and
control resources, offers increased flexibility
in infrastructure provision, and can extend
intercom over the Internet, so users can
overcome geographical restrictions which
hindered comms connections prior.
Over the last decade, Clear-Com has
paved the way with IP-based intercom
developments - ranging from simple to
complex communication requirements - to
support the widest range of clients. The
breadth of Clear-Com IP solutions makes
professional communication technology
available to everyone, bringing elite comms
'within reach' to users at all levels of
technical capability and budget levels.
Clear-Com's E-IPA connection card delivers
up to 64 channels of low-latency, high-audiobandwidth connections allowing customers
to build an extremely dense network with a
choice of connectivity options.
Compared to other audio- and intercomover-IP connectivity options, Clear-Com's
E-IPA card maximises the comms investment
for broadcasters while conserving
system card slots for other connectivity
needs. Users can even fit multiple E-IPA
cards into one system frame to connect
as many as 256 IP ports per matrix,
making Eclipse HX the highest-density
matrix on the market.
Amongst other applications, the
E-IPA card is being introduced to the
market paired with the new FreeSpeak
II IP Transceiver (IPT) which extends the
market-leading FreeSpeak II system's
capabilities with additional choices for
how to design system coverage.
Available in 16, 32, 48, or 64 ports,
the E-IPA card supports G.722 7 kHz
audio for a high-quality audio-overintercom experience as well as
AES67. While developments for
AES76 continue, the E-IPA card is
SMPTE 2110-30 ready.
The next phase of IP is here: The
Clear-Com E-IPA card. Take your
productions to the next level. Greater
compatibility. Highest port density.
Link teams across any distance.
Future-proof your system investment.
Discover how to increase your
comms connectivity more affordably.
