ZEISS Supreme Prime Lenses
ZEISS is showcasing its new high-end cinema lens
family, ZEISS Supreme Primes, at booth 6G2-04...

F

or the first time in South-East Asia, ZEISS is
presenting its new Supreme Prime family.
Consisting of 13 lenses with fixed focal lengths
between 15 and 200 millimetres, of which the
majority has a maximum aperture of T11.5,
the ZEISS Supreme Primes are designed to
cover cinematic large format camera sensors,
making them the ideal choice for current and
future camera systems. They are compatible
with all of the latest camera models, such as
the Sony VENICE, ARRI ALEXA LF, and RED
MONSTRO.
With the ZEISS Supreme Primes, ZEISS is
responding to many camera operators' desire

The 25mm lens will be available this year

for compact equipment
that meets the highest
standards of quality.
Weighing
an
average of 1,600g
with a consistent front
diameter of 95mm
on almost all the
focal lengths, the ZEISS
Supreme Prime lenses are
significantly more compact and lightweight
than comparable lenses on the market.
Even at T1.5, the ZEISS Supreme
Primes demonstrate their unsurpassed
craftsmanship
in
tricky
low-light
environments. They give the creator absolute
control by revealing subtly nuanced details in
deep shadows and bright highlights. A very
smooth transition between in-focus and out
of focus areas characterise the unique look
of the ZEISS Supreme Prime lenses. This
adds richer texture and greater depth to the
image.
The lenses are developed for modern digital
cinematography with cutting-edge optics and
key enhancements to aid the HDR process.

They maintain dynamic range and micro
contrast levels fine-tuned to bring out details
in the shadows and the mids.
Equipped with the unique ZEISS eXtended
Data metadata technology that was
introduced last year, the ZEISS Supreme
Prime lenses are able to provide frame-byframe data on lens vignetting and distortion,
in addition to the standard lens metadata
provided using Cooke's /i technology
protocol. This greatly speeds up the entire
film production's workflow. Besides, the
ZEISS eXtended Data technology is planned
to be expanded in future to offer additional
features with firmware upgrades. Along
with the easy-to-operate interchangeable
mount system that enables a quick change

from PL-mount to LPL-mount or EF-mount,
the new ZEISS Supreme Prime lenses offer
tremendous flexibility and is a future-proof
investment in today's rapidly changing
camera market.
The focal lengths of 25, 29, 35, 50, and
85 millimetres of the ZEISS Supreme Prime
lenses will first be available in August 2018.
The ZEISS Supreme Prime 100 millimetre is
expected to be available in December 2018.
The set of six lenses, consisting of the focal
lengths mentioned above, will be available
from selected ZEISS Cinema lens dealers,
with the remaining focal lengths to be
released successively until 2020.
