SUNTEC SINGAPORE

A part of

Newtec Looks to Boost
Satellite Performance
A

s uncertainty continues to mark the
satellite industry, Newtec is showcasing
a number of innovative solutions at
CommunicAsia 2018 booth 1P2-01 to help
boost efficiency, performance and business
potential for broadcasters.
Products on display include new features
from the MCX7000 Multi-Carrier Satellite
Gateway which is used for efficient
distribution and contribution broadcast
applications.
The platform functions as a quadruple
modulator or modem with dual demodulators,
ideal where density and power consumption
is at stake, while the optional Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) encryption of the

baseband frames gives full protection for
closed networks.
A range of broadband solutions are also
on show, with the new Satellite Network
Calculator being demoed, giving customers
the power to analyse performance and
evaluate potential gains to be made by their
satellite network in new markets.
Optimum efficiency and performance is
also top of the agenda. The Newtec Dialog®
Mobility Manager addresses this area for
the mobility market, where cruise ships
and super yachts are pushing the limits of
traditional satellite platforms.
The Mobility Manager overcomes the
limitations of previous systems and brings

The MCX7000 features remote in-band management

further gains through capacity sharing which
is enabled by Newtec's Mx-DMA® technology.
Newtec's full DVB-S2X modem portfolio
is also available, including the Newtec
MDM2510 IP Satellite Modem. The modem
is a two-way, easy-to-install, high throughput
satellite modem that supports a wide range
of services including Internet/Intranet access,
Voice-over-IP (VoIP), backhauling, mobility,
contribution and multicasting.
Company experts are also partaking in
sessions throughout the event. Newtec's
Market Director for Broadcast, Hans
Massart, is exploring the requirements of
newsgathering teams and how broadcasters
can effectively meet them in the session
'All-IP Newsgathering: Boosting SNG'. The
presentation takes place at the IABM Theatre

Show Daily | Tuesday 26 June 2018

today, between 2:45pm and 3pm SGT.
The rapidly evolving OTT market will also be
addressed, as satellite emerges as a solution
to meet the demand broadcasters are facing
for the sharing of real-time events with the
best image quality, low delay and buffering to
a global audience over the Internet, no matter
where the event is taking place.
Satellite's key role here is matched by its
relevance for another quickly developing
technology - 5G. This view will be expanded
on by Semir Hassanaly, Market Director,
Cellular Backhaul and Trunking, at Newtec,
who is presenting 'How Satellite will Play a
Vital Role in the Successful Roll-out of 5G' in
the NetworkComms Track of the ConnecTech
Asia Summit conference today from 3:30pm
to 4pm SGT.
Newtec is exhibiting at booth 1P2-01 at
CommunicAsia and at stand 4U3-01 at
BroadcastAsia.
