he new year is usually associated with making resolutions that will
change or improve our lives - but if you're anything like me, those
good intentions rarely last longer than January! Perhaps this is
because we set ourselves impossible goals and focus more on the
result rather than the journey. We need challenges that are uplifting, fun
and will broaden our minds: things that we actually want to do, not ideas
that make us look good or obligations drawn up through a sense of guilt.
So, this year, I have resolved to honour just one change that I am very
excited to commit to - and that's to travel more. After all, globe trotting is
a lot more fun than worrying about which foods I shouldn't be eating.
If you have a strong appetite for adventure, one of the resolutions you
should set this year is to avoid the tourist hotspots at your next destination.
There's something deeply thrilling about exploring lesser-known places.
Let's not forget that the UK continues to be one of the most popular
destinations in the world (even in post-Brexit times). While London, in
particular, draws people in with its charm, history, and pubs, we also
have the beautiful mountainous north, and a stunning countryside with
fascinating views and natural beauty.
Holidaying at home is top of my travel resolutions
- starting with a week in Scotland. Glasgow, Loch
Lomond, Isle of Skye and Loch Ness are on the itinerary.
