If you're missing school
dinners then get down to
The Schoolhouse, where you
can tuck into British classics
with a twist. I guarantee
you'll be asking for seconds.
I started my meal with a
milkshake, but soon risked
a detention by ordering from
the extensive craft beer menu.
For the main course, my
partner chose the chicken
stack burger, which definitely
looked better than the burgers
given to us by dinner ladies,
and I chose pesto pasta,
served in a metal mess tin that
would look good on Instagram.
I loved desserts at school,
so I was looking forward to
the next course. Sadly the
apple pie had run out, so my
partner and I shared some
naughty doughnut holes and
a chocolate sundae. So filling!
The restaurant is full of
memorabilia, which took us
on a field trip down memory
lane. Retro game consoles
were stuffed into lockers
- perhaps confiscated from
previous pupils...

While Inamo has
been around since
2008, this branch is
new and just as exciting when
it comes to interactive dining.
Once seated at your hi-tech
table, you can choose images
from a range of patterns,
pictures or even personal
photos projected onto the
surface. (You can email
images in advance.)
The décor is Crystal
Maze Industrial Zone meets
(Japanese) Futuristic. Tables
double up as game screens
and you can play against your
fellow diners or graffiti them
without making a mess. After
scrolling through the Pan
Asian and Japanese menu,
I used the tablet supplied
Inamo has
won many awards,
for the quality
of its food as
well as for the
experience.
to order dragon
rolls (sushi),
crispy duck
and pancakes.
I also sampled
a few 'Asian tapas'
- and, like tapas, the food
is served when each plate is
ready, rather than all together.
After ordering, you can
take a peek at the live
chef-cam feed to see how
your food is coming along.
Highlights from the tapas
menu were the sublime beef
tataki and Korean BBQ ribs.
I finished by sharing some
popping candy dipping sticks
with my dining partner. A
highly visual feast in more
ways than one!
