What to do...

My cousin, who lives in a
large village near Caernarfon
called Waunfawr, told me
I had to visit Zip World
Velocity at Penrhyn
Quarry, Bethesda (zipworld.
co.uk). Indeed he was so
insistent, he even offered to
drive me there, promising it
would be the 'closest a
human being can get to
skydiving without actually
leaping out of a plane.'

Although that didn't
appeal to me at first, the
experience proved to be
amazing. Basically, it's very,
very safe, taking you head
first at just under 100mph
down a mountain, over a
cliff and above a quarry
lake with fabulous views.
Those bitten by the zip
line bug might also want to
head to Zip World Titan, at
Llechwedd Slate Caverns,
Blaenau Ffestiniog. The

views from this one are
fantastic. Zip World also
boasts the world's first
(and so far only)
subterranean playground,
called Bounce Below.
Built in a former slate
mine you basically get to
jump and bounce from net
to net in a cavern the size
of a cathedral.
Adventurous types may
well literally fall head over
heels for the place.
