During World War Two, 173
people were crushed to death
while sheltering in London's
Bethnal Green tube station
during an air raid. Even today
staff are said to hear the screams
and sobs of women and children.
Other spooky stations include
Farringdon, is haunted by
Anne Naylor, a 13-year-old girl
murdered on the site in 1758.

The Ancient
7Gloucestershire
Ram Inn,

The Ancient Ram has been the
location of many sinister events
since it was built in the 12th
century, including child sacrifice,
suicides and black magic rituals.
The Rt Rev John Yates, a
former Bishop of Gloucester who
died in 2008, tried unsuccessfully
to exorcise it and later called it
'the most evil place I have ever
had the misfortune to visit'.

Ham House,
8Thames
Richmond-upon-

When her husband died in
1682, former owner Elizabeth
Maitland, Duchess of Lauderdale
was forced to sell many of her
priced possessions and ended
her days in poverty, writing: 'I am
a prisoner in my beloved Ham
House and I will never leave'.
Her spirit now walks the
passageways of Ham House
in a white night dress
accompanied by her
pet King Charles Spaniel.

9 Greyfriars
Kirkyard, UK

During the 1990s, a chilly
homeless man at Greyfriars
Kirkyard decided to open a coffin
and snuggle down for a sleep.
The coffin crumbled on top of
him, covering him in the dust of
a 400-year-old corpse - that of
notorious 17th century Judge
and Lord Advocate Sir George
Mackenzie. It's claimed the
incident awoke Mackenzie's ghost
and soon after, graveyard visitors
started suffering mysterious cuts.
In the following years, 140
people collapsed while on
cemetery tours before the council
banned people from the area.

1 Sonian
Brussels

The Deogen, 'De Ogen' (or The
Eyes, as it translates) is a ghost
which haunts the Sonian Forest
in Brussels and is often seen in
a green fog form followed by
smaller shadow figures.
The fable began when nuns
started finding burned bodies in
the woods. There are still reports
of apparitions running in front of
cars and a laughing child is often
heard as the mist evaporates.

Festning, Norway
Built in the 13th century, it was
used as a castle, a prison and
even a base for the Nazis
during their occupation.

The plague hit Eyam when a piece
of contaminated cloth was sent
from London to a village tailor in
1665. Instead of letting the illness
spread, the community decided to
quarantine itself, resulting in 273
deaths and only 83 survivors.
Today, there are many ghostly
sightings, mostly around the
Miners Arms pub, where some
guests have left in the middle
of the night through fright.
