This iconic cemetery has
some of the finest funerary
architecture in the country.
First opened in 1839, there
are approximately 170,000
people buried in around
53,000 graves - and some
very impressive Victorian
architecture, including the
Grade I-listed Egyptian
Avenue, Terrace Catacombs,
Chapel and Colonnade. It's
still an operating cemetery,

LONDON DUCK
The D-Day Duck tour takes you
back to war torn London during
the 1940s - on land and in the
Thames. Before you hit the
water, a guide shows you the
secret underground tunnels of
the Cabinet War Rooms.
You'll hear sounds reminiscent
of that time such as the eerie
air raid siren, Sir Winston
Churchill's speeches and even
evocative jazz music. While the
unique DUKW's (that's half
truck, half boat) role in the
Normandy D-Day Landings will
be explained as you splash down
into the Thames in front of the
MI6 building.
This specific tour (adults £28;
children £20) operates on the
first Sunday of every month and
is a history lesson with an edge.
Other tours are also available,
including James Bond and the
Classic Sightseeing tour.

are by guided tour only

£6), and includes entrance
to the East Cemetery (where
