The Hotel Inspector: Alvaro, what do you perceive to be the main trends going forward in the hotel industry at the moment? with the needs of our guests. At the InterContinental we are distancing ourselves from the rigid, restrictive luxury that has been historically associated with 5★ hotels in London. While having a luxury and a firstclass offering, we want to be very approachable with a flexible and friendly atmosphere. We are catering for the whole world – presidents, entertainers, and you and me – and that’s what we want to show. I think that’s what people are looking for: to feel at home and relax without having to go through too many protocols in order to have a good time. Alvaro Rey: Business and leisure travel are currently experiencing a great time of growth. Guests are seeing more and understanding what really makes a great travel experience. And of course, one of the most important things is quality of service.
