WHAT'S THERE? Perhaps the best known of
the UK theme parks, Alton Towers has
thrill rides galore. The brand new 14-loop
rollercoaster called The Smiler, has twisted
psychological eﬀects including optical
illusions 'designed to mess with your mind'.
For a more gentle experience, there's Ice
Age 4D Experience, combining 3D footage
from the ﬁlm with physical eﬀects, plus
there are all the old favourites, including
water ﬂumes and ghost trains.
BEST THING FOR KIDS: The live shows
are worth keeping an eye out for; this year
is The Pirates Of Mutiny Bay, which has
dazzling ﬁre and water explosions.
