The instant communication tool focuses heavily on images
shared for 10 seconds or used to create a "story", as well as
chat between friends. It also carries feeds from brands,
publishers and influencers. Build a Snapchat stream to
follow companies that interest you. Check out their posts
and how they engage with consumers; when you apply for a
job, show you know what they've been doing. You can also
showcase your skills using the stories section.

There are plenty of
job-hunting websites
out there. Here are
some you may want

7 Face up to Facebook

9 Tell it in pictures

While Facebook isn't the
best tool for job hunting,
you need to make sure
your profile represents the
best possible you. Make
sure there's nothing on
your public profile that you
wouldn't want a prospective
employer to see. Remove
any distasteful or offensive
posts, plus any photos that
show you in an unfavourable
light. While you're at it,
check your privacy settings
to make sure your posts are
only seen by your friends.

A picture tells a thousand
words, and this is never
more true than when using
Instagram. Use the app to
connect with companies that
interest you and learn about
their company culture - it
may give you the edge when
it comes to an interview.
Be mindful of what
you post and make sure
you're portraying the right
image. Tag a conference
you've attended or a
screenshot of something
you've done professionally,
and upload only those
photos you wouldn't mind
a potential boss seeing.

8 Get noticed
You don't have to sit back and
wait for opportunities to
come your way. Make yourself
heard - and seen - by
attending trade shows,
conferences and dinners
where possible, where you
can mix with like-minded
professionals and be the first
to hear of industry moves.
You're investing in yourself,
and it may be that one of your
new contacts offers you a job
or opportunity that you
wouldn't otherwise get.
