excellent way of gaining workplace
knowledge and a degree all at the same time!"
As an apprentice analyst I work as part of a team that tests
our in-house produced sterile products and products
imported from third party manufacturers. My role covers
a wide range of analytical testing, such as simple tests
that ensure a products volume/weight is correct and
also complex tests such as high performance liquid
chromatography (HPLC), which ensures products are the
right strength and contain no unintended extra substances.
The chemical science degree I am studying is tailored for
students in a working environment and covers a wide
range of topics, from chemical concepts, to health and
safety and environmental management systems. Most of
my university work is completed online, meaning that I only
travel to the university for one week of the year! The workplace training I receive enables me to go to university and
feel completely comfortable with different practical exercises.
This apprenticeship to me is an excellent way of obtaining
a degree whilst being able to see first-hand the benefits
different aspects bring to our organisation.
