really forged ahead and supported one
another to achieve our successes."
Victoria Mellor, NEX's Head of
Marketing and Communications, agrees
that to achieve parity we need to support
one another. "I think we all play a part
in trying to move the agenda forward,"
she says. "That may mean how you rolemodel at work, how you bring up your
children or the relationships you build."

Empowering our people

NEX sits at the intersection of two
industries, finance and technology, that
have traditionally been male dominated
- but attitudes are changing. At NEX,
we believe that to play our part we need
to invest in talent and ensure a diverse
pipeline of people joining the organisation.
"If we want a more equal society, then it
starts at a young age," says Anna. "We need
to encourage young women to progress in
fields such as ours, because people in these
roles will be the architects of the future."
This is something Development Group
Manager Esther Shamenzon has been
living and breathing for some time. "From
childhood I've been looking at all the areas
where women are underrepresented,"
she says, "I was always trying to be the
best I could be in mathematics, computer
science and physics, despite feeling like a
minority." Now she has another reason to
press for progress. "I have two daughters,"
she says, "so now I'm looking forward
not just for myself but for them too."
NEX recently launched its NEX
Communities initiative, including NEX
Women and NEX Pride, to connect
people across the organisation. "NEX
Communities was founded to bring
together colleagues with a common
interest, idea or identity," says Money
Market Sales Executive and NEX
Women co-founder Kimberly Myers.

Keamy. "This has contributed to even more
of an inclusive and collaborative culture."

Group Head of HR, Harriet Oliver, agrees.
"We've still got work to do," she says, "but
at its core NEX is an organisation that's
constantly innovating. Change is part of
our business model, and it doesn't matter
who you are or what your background is - if
you're driving the company forward then we
will support, mentor and champion you."

Commitment to change

"As a society, we still have a long way to
go," says Victoria, "but at NEX we have
a number of senior women reporting
directly to the CEO, and there's definitely a
commitment to increasing the number of
women in leadership roles. I was promoted
both times I was on maternity leave, which
