Want people's jaws to drop when you tell them what
you do? Any of these roles should do the trick

Cool hunter

If you're always one step ahead of the curve when it comes to trends, you could be a
shoe-in for this role. Also known as a cool spotter or trend watcher, you need to be
seriously in-the-know when it comes to popular culture, to the point where you can
predict what the latest fad is going to be before it hits.
The job involves creating reports for clients on what the next big trends will be to
help them tap into the zeitgeist and build future-proof strategies for their business.
What skills and qualifications do I need? There are courses and degrees in trend
forecasting (UAL London College of Fashion and Southampton Solent University are
among those worth checking out), but you may be able to land an entry-level job with
a futures consultancy by demonstrating your ability to spot the next big thing.
How much can I earn? Starting salaries are around £20,000, but experienced
consultants with a proven track record can earn considerably more.
