Do you have skills and
knowledge to pass on to
tomorrow's technical and
vocational professionals?
Preston's College would
like to hear from YOU

P

reston's College is a large
and diverse general furthereducation college providing
teaching, learning and skills
development for both young people and
adults in central Lancashire and beyond. It
is one of the larger employers in Preston,
with a staffing base of around 600. We
are always on the lookout for technical
and vocational professionals who want
to pass on their skills, knowledge and
industry practice to the next generation.
You don't have to be a qualified teacher
- Preston's College will sponsor new staff
to gain a relevant teaching qualification
and provide time to study on the job. As
part of the new apprenticeship standards,
designed to raise and standardise skill
levels, the new role of work-based tutor
has been created. The college will also
sponsor new appointees to complete an A1
assessor or other relevant qualification.

many local employers and organisations.
It's firmly grounded in the community
and plays a significant role in supporting
young people and adults in developing
their knowledge, skills and education
in preparation for employment, career
advancement or further study. We provide
the culture, environment, facilities,
resources and services to enable learners,
at all career stages, to make progress and
contribute to a thriving local economy.
This is backed up by the college's
recent Ofsted report, which stated
that, "Senior managers have skilfully
developed the curriculum to meet
specific employer needs." In the
government's qualification achievement
results for 2017, Preston's College came
seventh out of 201 FE colleges for
classroom-based achievement rates.
The college also recently achieved
the Investors in People Silver Award,
the first college in the north-west to
do so against the new, more stringent
standards. We pride ourselves on our
diversity and have been recognised as
a Disability Confident Employer by the
Department of Work & Pensions.
We are committed to engaging with our
staff. We conduct frequent surveys and
aim to make changes in response to the
results, as well as holding Staff Voice focus
groups and meetings with the Principal.
If you have something to contribute to
Preston's College's fantastic services, we
look forward to hearing from you.
